Dr Thomas D Sheldon Our Rung Master HENEVER theres a warm day wuth clear skues uts never an unusual sught to see Dr Sheldon out front greetung hus new students as they enter school Dr Sheldon as you all should know by now us Mr Beddow s successor as pruncupal of our school and greetung the stu dents thus way us only one example of the many ways un whuch he gauns the fruendshup and confl dence of Hempstead Hugh students Dr Sheldons educatuonal background has been exceptuonally varued After graduatung from Munoa Hugh he entered Syracuse Unuversuty ma uorung un scuences Shortly after graduatung from Syracuse he started teachung scuence and phys ucal education at Splut Rock Hugh School and he also coached the schools basketball and soccer teams Dr Sheldon then sugned up wuth the U S Army Durung hrs two years of servuce he served as an electronucs technucuan and su pervused raduoteletype traunung Afterwards he returned to teachung scuence and druver educa tuon at hus Alma Mater Munoa Hugh After school he coached theur football baseball and basket ball teams Wuth luttle tume left for humself Dr Sheldon always managed to partucupate un communuty clubs and orgcunuzatuons Included un hus long lust ae Presudent of the Onondaga County League Durector of Health Physucal Educatuon and Recreatuon un Munoa and an actuve member of Hempstead s Luon Club Dr Sheldon worked very hard before beung elected Vuce Pruncupal and Durector of Adult Edu catuon at Munoa Hugh In 1953 he became the Pruncupal of Munoas Junuor and Senuor Hugh School and held that posutuon up to the tume he was appounted the new pruncupal of Hempstead Hugh For the short tume he has been here Dr Shel don has done much for the umprovement of our school As far as hus Iukes and duslukes are con cerned Dr Sheldon lukes all kunds of sports a clean well run school and walkung to and from school Among hus duslukes are poor sportsmcun shup and dusorderly conduct un classes and halls We all welcome Dr Sheldon as our new prun cupal and hope that the future wull brung many more successful years for hum at Hempstead Hugh School , . . ., . 1 . .
