1 '7 C' U O N l 1 Toe Spz'7'z'Z gf zfze Scfzool The calls and shouts of lusty youth, The chattering laugher of the groups Of carefree students, and the buzz Of classes, animate the great Brick building, 'till it seems alive, And seems to have a low roar of its own. But noise and bustle of the day G-ive way to quiet, and with night, Falls silence through deserted halls. The shadows steal across the floors, And hide in gloom the empty desks, While ghostly moonbeams light the vacant porch. Then through the halls, with graceful step And laughter light, the Muses come. Released from toil in dog-eared books They gather there in merry mood And revel all the night away, 'Till dawn recalls them to their tasks again. Ah! Would you see the merry group Who gather nightly? Nay, not so, Few may behold it, those alone Whose hearts to beauty are attuned Whose minds on learning are bestowed, May see at night the Spirit of the School. K. Lascelle, '28.
