FACULTY SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS with the ad- vent of rockets and sputniks, which have aroused the students interest in science and mathematics, the primary aim of the two de- partments became the desire to help the stu- dents adjust to the current demands of society. The Science Department creates a knowledge of scientific language and laboratory tech- niques so the student can achieve a scientific attitude toward everyday problems. Our laboratory facilities are excellentg there is a science :lub for those wishing to secure ad- ditional knowledge in such fields as astrono- my rocketry and electronics. Besides films, slides and field trips, guests are often invited to lecture to the students on a phase of science. The Mathematics Department is organized to help the student increase his skills in mathe- matical manipulation and to acquaint him with the vocabulary and symbolism of the field. To add a little color to this challenging sub- ject, proiects are submitted and field trips are taken during which the direct application and role of mathematics in everyday living and progress is emphasized, BENJAMIN BROWNE Master of Education A most friendly instructor at the head of the science depart ment, Mr. Browne was recognized as a witty and he'pful guide to the students.
