To Mr. Otter and Mr. Agresta. Mr. Agresta has been at Hemlock for only three years, but he has made us proud of our basketball team, our school, but more important, ourselves. Mr. Agresta is currently teaching Senior Government and Econom- ics. He is the Varsity Basketball Coach. Mr. Otter has been the Senior Class Advisor throughout the year. He also has been the person we have turned to when problems arose. Mr. Otter has been teaching here for seven years. He is now teaching advanced Mathematics. He is also the Freshman Basketball and J.V. Football Coach. Mr. Otter was there to share and help us during dances, school hours, and after school. Not only are Mr. Otter and Mr. Agresta teachers and coaches, but friends. What else can we say except thank you very much for the classroom touch and personal help. We Will All Remember Dr. Kenneth Ling Only a few of us were privileged to know Dr. Kenneth Ling in all his varied roles, but there was one way that we all knew him and that was as our friend and professional associate. Dr. Ling believed sincerely in the concept of service and worked quietly and modestly to help wher- ever he was needed; whether it home, in his church, on the school board, in his local service organization, or in role as a physician to the community of Hemlock. Because Dr. Ling liked people and truly respected them, he was uniquely able to serve his fellow man during his stay with us. I was truly privileged to know this man ... he is missed. Larry Ganglio Dr. Kenneth Ling, in the years beginning with 1959, served his community as a member of the Hemlock Board of Education with extraordinary dedication. Few men will bring to this office the understanding and compassion for young men and women that he did during the decade he served while I was superintendent. We will all remember the seemingly endless hours that he gave to his fellow men in the pur- suit of his profession ... he was our physician. I will also remember that he gave the same energy and wisdom to his school district. Edwin Kilbourn Superintendent and Staff MR. SANDERS MR. GARIGLIO MRS. NOTHELFER and MRS. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His ftame sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou are with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anoint- est my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Sure- ly goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. James S. Sperry, of 16900 Palomino Drive, was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Barnard Sperry. He was born on January 30, 1955, in Chicago, 111. While riding his bicycle Saturday evening. April 14, 1973, he was struck by a car and killed on M46 at the corner of Brennan and Gratiot Roads. He resided in Saginaw area most of his life and lived with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wolinski. He was . member of Zion Luthern Church, Iva, and had attended Douglas McArthur and Eisenhower High Schools, and was presently a member of the senior class of Hemlock High School. He was a member of the Varsity Club and the Hemlock Varsity Football Team. He was voted to the CML all Conference offense and defense team, the all area class B, and Saginaw County Class B teams. Jim was a well-known, and understanding person to everyone he knew. He was liked by all and long will be remembered by everyone that knew him. 21 We learn today what we will use tomorrow Colors Navy Blue and White Motto Let us not look at what we have done, or what we should have done. There he lives with his mother, a younger brother, and a sister. Utrecht is the center of highways and railroads. Besides trains, many of the people use bicycles for transportation because gas is so expensive. The Netherlands is mostly farm lands just like Hemlock, but their farms are much smaller. School in Hemlock is much easier than in the Netherlands. Gijs's hobbies are collecting stamps and photography. He is very interested in biology, bird-watching, and plant and animal life. Because of these, he likes to travel. Gijs lives with the Johnson family. He says, they give me a lot of fun. He really appreciates the opportunity and experiences at Hemlock High School. GIJS VREUGDENHIL Maria DeKerf is our only girl exchange student this year. She lives in Antwerp, Belgium with her mom, aunt, uncle, and cousin. Antwerp is a large and important city and harbor. Although Bel- gium is very small there are some very beautiful places to visit. Schools are much easier in Hemlock than they are in Belgium. Teachers and students have a close relationship here, states Maria. Maria loves living with the Wallace family and her wish is going to come true. They are planning on going to Niagara Falls in June. Maria's hobbies are reading, traveling, studying, languages, having fun, and eating. MARIA DeKERF Juha Tarkka lives in Helsinki, Finland. He lives with his mother and father and his two sisters, Ina 17, and Mia 14. His father works with a real estate firm. Finland is about the size of California and has 4 million people. The climate and vegitation is much like that of Michigan's upper peninsula. Schools in Finland are much harder. Students have to take three foreign languages and advanced mathematics. Juha finds the relation- ship between teacher and student very rewarding. Juha lives with the Oszust family. His hobbies are reading, playing guitar and chess.
