ADMINISTRATION D EAR S ENIORS: The young men and women of the gen- eration to which you belong are going out into the most exciting and hazard- ous period in the world's history. At no previous time has man needed so much knowledge in so many areas. Everyday's newspapers proclaim new wars, rumors of wars, and threats of wars. Two ways of life are engaged in an implacable struggle for survival. The most deadly weapons ever con- ceived and contrived by man are at the command of the world's great powers. Finally, you are dared to set your imagination and intellect tothe task of solving the mysteries of the celestial universe. It would be an understatement to say that high school is only the beginning of your preparation. Here you have had the love, protection, guidance, in- terest and concern of your parents and teachers. It must bea little frightening for you to confront your future without these sustaining influences. But you cannot, nor would you, have it other- wise. You must grow and live for your own sake. The story is told that a diligent young student, while returning home from college, lost his notebooks, andthereby his four year's education. Your edu- cation does not lie in your notebooks, but in your character, skills, and atti- tudes. If these are as we have hoped to mold them, you are ready to BEGIN your education. You are ready with the ability to read, think, and act wisely, to know, understand, and get along with people everywhere, to break dovsm the barriers of peaceful human relations, and to discover the myriad secrets still hidden in the universe. The chal- le n g e -scientific an d humanistic-is yours. fSignedJ L. E. Creel, Jr. Superintendent Mr. L. E. Creel, Jr. Superintendent Mr. D. H. Ives, Jr Principal
