I e . . . . 611155 History We the class of 1955. have reached the last milestone of our high school days. Let's wander back into the past and think over some of the experiences we have had together. In the fall of 1951, we entered the ninth grade, eighteen girls and nineteen boys, as scared and green as ever freshman could be, but with high hopes and expectations. It was not an easy year, and we helped to add many a line and furrow to the countenance of our teachers. Somehow, we struggled through with the help of Mrs. Delany and Dr. Merritt. With one year of our high school over, what were three more to the wise sophomore? We felt more important then than we have ever felt since. Zeal and determination marked us as sophomores. Some day we hope we will know as much as we thought we knew then. Another ll, 1953, and we're juniors. We learned how to work and play and get the best from both. We looked forward to our Junior-Senior Banquet more than anything else and worked hard to raise the money to put it on. It turned out to be a great success. Remember the rose garden and the orchestra? Our minstrel rdded a lot of fun and fellowship and also netted us a good sum of money. In February, one of the things we had long hoped for came to us---our class rings. What a happy dayl The end was now in sight for us. Our class of 1955 met again September 1, to pace our last miles together. Through the years we have had our joys and sorrows. We have not been model pupils--far from it, but we have learned what it means to work together, to play together, to live together. We realize that the precepts and rules given us by our superintendent, principal, and teachers are meant to fit us to become good, true citizens in the wider sphere of life towards which we are moving. It is the wish of all the pupils that our teachers will not be disappointed in us, but be glad to point us out as graduates of Hemingway High School.
