During the last month of school our class made It's acting debut with the production of the mini-series Devil Popcorn . We got the Idea for this movie after we found a bag of popcorn Stacla Jensen had left In the English room for four months. We learned one thing from Miss Jacobsen in the making of this video: When you least expect it. . . expect itil!” This year we gained Clint Bruhn, Doug Groves, and Jennifer Ulley, Val Planansky returned, and we lost Chris Muggier. Our Junior year brought about prom decorating and all the disagreements that go with it A group of 11 Jun- iors traveled to Washington. D.C., to participate In the Close-up Program with sponsor Lyle Fodncs. The high point of the year had to be the trial of Adamson vs Ulley In Business Law. Jennifer Ulley was accused of inflict- ing Mississippi Mud Marks upon Ed Adamson. The case was dismissed due to lack of evidence. We gained: Jonl Adams, Amber Bollnger. Dianna Jenkins, David Landers and Val Planansky and we lost: Trent Belknap, Rick Cofcr, Dana Dillon, Doug Groves, Beth Hudson. Tammy Morgan. Jamie Prochazka. and Marcia Pulta. After 13 years of waiting our senior year finally ar- rived. As Stacla will be the first to tell you. It was “a very stressful year . And it was this year that Angle pulled ofT her biggest coup: The Doughnut Caper! In govern- t ment one day Angle knew she would Just starve to death if she didn't get something to eat. Susan and Angle con- vinced Mrs. Hanks It was Dianna Jenkins birthday and that they should buy doughnuts and sing to her. Later, when Mrs. Hanks found that it wasn't Dianna's birthday, she got us back by giving us a huge govern- ment test. This was a year of many take-overs and achieve- ments. The office was once again lost to the watchful eyes of seniors, this time to Steph Strieker and Dianna Jenkins. Mrs. Hanks found out she couldn't make a single decision without first discussing It with John Eisner, usually In the telepathic sense and normally without John even realizing It. The famous quote this year comes from Ed Adamson who asks every teacher the same question, Hey! Can we have a free day?! This year we lost Jonl Adams. . . . Wills The Class of 1988, being of sound mind and body, do hereby make the following bequeaths to the students and faculty of Hemlngford High School: Ed Adamson wills Corey Campbell his muscles and strength so he can be the macho man he wants to be. Chris Baer wills his Chevy Camero to Scott Wilkins to settle their standing argument about which Is better-- Chevy or Mopar. 8am Brmunlnger wills his great driving ability to Lenny Holman so he can be a terror out of school as well as In. Clint Bruhn wills his car and motorcycle to Dave Schckall so he can have something nice and fast to drive. Lceann Bruns wills her glasses and a flashlight to Laura Specht so she can avoid running into the front of her house when she comes home at night Julie Cullan wills her Jumping ability to Dan Davies so he can get high enough into the air to slam dunk the basketball. John Eisner wills his motor-mouth to Kim Wood so she finally can be seen but not heard. Kathleen Gassellng wills to Mark Klemkc and Casey Spath her organizational notebook so they don't have to keep bugging the coaches, and to Greg Hill, a post office box so he can receive all of his so-called fan mall. Jeff Hatter man wills his voice to Casey Walker so he can scream on key. Dianna Jenkins wills to Sherry Garber her BAD abilities so she can be tough by herself. 8tacia Jensen. Angle Kotschwar and Kaylene Kumpf will Todd Turek the ability to go out with one person for three weeks Instead of three persons In one week. Joel King wills his sister the ability to be on time for her first period class for an entire week. J. J. Larson wills his ability to Sumo-wrestle Mr. Lanik- to Jay Bruns. Jennifer Lilley wills Mr. Sauvaln her ability to ride a horse so he can be a real cowboy instead of always pretending to be one. 8usan Olson wills to Joe Planansky her ability to be hard, all hard, and tough, all tough. Valorie Planansky wills Mr. Kotschwar a package of Rolalds so his unexpected outbursts won't disturb his classes. Skye Prather wills Mr. Kotschwar his own bag of animal crackers so he doesn't have to eat all of Mrs. Wade's. The mouse trap Is optional. Jenny Schock wills Jeff Gaertig the ability to keep It under control the night before a JETTS trip. 8tephanie Strieker wills her ability to manipulate teachers to Christine Haller so that she can walk the halls when she is a senior. Dan Walters wills his 'lady luck In quarters to Mr. Kotschwar so that Mr. K. doesn't have to pay for Dan's :ollege education. 13

Class of 1988 . . . History In 1976, 16 youngsters started school with a lot of hopes, dreams. Ideas, and goals for their future. These students were: Gina Dailey, Pamela Brlncy, Lccann Bruns. Julie Cullan. Nell Pullen. Kathleen Gassellng. Jeffrey Hattcrman. Stacla Jensen. Dancttc Jcspersen, William Kllng, Angela Kotschwar. Susan Olson. Skye Prather. James Prochazka, Marcia Pulta, and Lyle Wurst. These students had Annette Davies for their first teacher. Mrs. Davies knew this class would be eager to leam when most of the class fell asleep during story time. The highlights of the year were the field trip to Fort Robinson and the theme song from the Letter People Program. To this day. Stacla Jensen still remem- bers and sings this song to us. After sleeping through Kindergarten, we moved on to first grade with Jaci Stolldorf as our teacher. We gained: Sam Braunlnger, Lanl Pearson. Scott Romlck, Atanzdo Salazar. Theresa Stephenson. Chris Schafer. Wanda Taylor. Stephanie Two Bulls, and Clifford Ver- blck. We lost: Jeffrey Hatterman and William Kllng. This was the year Angle Kotschwar started her criminal life by cheating on one of her spelling tests. The words a , and”, and the really baffled her. Our field trip this year was to the Crawford Chicken Hatchery. By the end of the week the Jensen farm was over-flowing with baby chicks. We entered the second grade under the guidance of Miss Smith. We gained: Chris Baer. JefTrey Hattcrman. Dwaine Schulze, and Stephanie Strieker. We lost: Pam Brlncy. Lanl Pearson. Scott Romlck, Atanzdo Salazar. Theresa Stephenson. Wanda Taylor. Stephanie Two Bulls, and Lyle Wurst. This was the year Chris Baer en- tered our class and the girls have never been quite the same since. We started having extra-curricular ac- tivities this year with Blue Birds and Cub Scouts. Once we entered the third grade we let loose and be- came violent This was the year Ed Adamson lost his first fight. Big. bad Susan Olson dedded she needed Ed's ruler and when he wouldn’t give It to her, she took It and broke It over his head. Susan also became violent when KecKee Gassellng wore the exact same shirt to school as Susan had on. Susan shoved her Into the lockers, ripping KccKce’s shirt This was also the year Sam Braunlnger started using his alias name: Sammy the Seal. Our field trip this year was to McDonald’s In Scottsbluff and this was when Jeffrey Hattcrman had his calling and knew that he would one day work at McDonald's. We lost: Chris Schafer. Dwaine Schulze, and Clifford Verblck. We gained: Edward Adamson. Theresa Bayllss, Jennifer Burrcss, Dana Dillon. Rhondi Goodwin, Leigh Ann Murdock. Loretta Nelson. Jenny Schock, Korl Troup, Tara Trump, and Clifford Cure. Our big thrill the fourth grade year was moving up- stairs. Angle and Stacla decided to test the banister for sturdiness by sliding down It continually. Daddy Kotschwar learned of this and showed his disapproval by giving them a week of no recess. By the end of the month. Angle was staying In at recess again but this time with Susan. They had been caught throwing but- ter and peas at the radiator In the cafeteria and would have gotten away with It had Angle not hit a high school teacher In the back of the head (sorry Mr. Fodncs). We gained: Diana Basaldua. Angle Garber. Tammy Morgan, and Val Planansky. and we lost: Theresa Bayllss, Jen- nifer Burrcss, Rhondi Goodwin. Loretta Nelson. Skye Prather. Korl Troup, and Tara Trump. Our fifth grade year was long and drawn out. Skye Prather decided to test her perfume for effectiveness by pouring the whole bottle over Kathleen Gasscllng s head. For our field trip this year we went to the Marl Sandoz ranch, where Angle Garber announced her undying lore for Sam Braunlnger. Their love affair lasted up until the sixth grade. We lost: Diana Basaldua. Clifford Curr, and Gina Bailey, and gained Dan White. Sixth grade was a total disaster. Mrs. Thomas was our teacher and It’s a wonder she didn't have a nervous breakdown that year. Kaylcnc Kumpf started a rivalry right ofT with Angle Garber by supposedly trying to steal Sam away from her. The girls in our class were the big- gest bunch of babies , to quote Mrs. Thomas and we cried about everything. Mrs. Thomas showed us who was In charge by pushing Leigh Ann Murdock up against the wall, and threatening to end Jenny Schock’s life while waving a newly broken rolling pin over her head. The big controversy this year was the dreaded talking list. Each day one person was chosen to be monitor and write down names of people who talked. Because of a class conspiracy Nell Fullen missed almost every recess because of the list. September 4th of this year was an Important day In Stacla Jensen's life. In a game of klckball one afternoon Stacla tripped over third base and broke her leg. We didn’t think she was hurt and stood laughing at her while Sam yelled. Get up and run. you fool! Food also played an Important role In our lives this year. Big Ed Adamson proved that nothing comes be- tween him and the cafeteria when on the way to lunch one day his shoulder clipped the edge of the lockers and they all tumbled down like dominos. On Foreign Foods Day, Marcia Pulta brought a punch that was made In South America. It was ex- tremely good punch, and it's no wonder. It had Vodka In 1L We lost Dan White, and gained J. J. Larson and Kaylcnc Kumpf. It was now time for the class of 1988 to more Into the high school building. This change brought us to our first attempt at sports and holding class meetings with some form of order. Mrs. Gassellng was our English teacher this year and she showed us the true meaning of the word tuff . We lost no one. and we gained Rick Cofer and Ricky Pollock. Our eighth grade year, we gained Laura Trickier and Mr. Egging and Mrs. Sharer as sponsors and lost Leigh Ann Murdock and Ricky Pollock. We had three highlights this year. The first was our Sex Education class taught by Mrs. Jam! Goffena. J. J. Larson proved to us that he did his homework by getting a 100% on our first test The second big event centers around Angle Kotschwar. One day. feeling extremely rowdy. Angle de- cided to hold the chorus room door closed on Stac so she couldn’t get In. Angle got a big surprise and two nights detention when she discovered Mr. Hanks on the other side of the door. The third big event came with the end of the year blow-out at Angle Garber's house. We were all there saying good-bye to Junior High, when the freshman gave us a big surprise: water balloons everywhere. What a welcome to high school! Our freshman year marked the first year we could participate in high school sports and the school prom and Chris Baer started his four-year term as class presi- dent. Our most exciting class this year was science taught by Mr. Stolldorf. It became deadly when we started doing lab experiments. J. J. Larson and Beth Hudson blew up something one day causing a yellow mushroom cloud to float around the room. All of us ran screaming for cover. All day long you could smell J. J.’s experiment wherever you went KecKee Gassellng and Laura Trickier got the 44 Magnum” (one week of deten- tion) for their great Oreo cookie caper, when Mr. Stolldorf caught them raiding his cookie Jar. This year, like the last, ended with eveiybody all wet..well at least almost everybody. There were a couple of girls. Dana Dillon and Kathleen, who didn’t believe that wet was wonderful and hid Inside a locked car. KecKee got off easy, but Dana paid the price when she found her extra clothes dripping water from the top of the flagpole. We gained: Trent Belknap, John Eisner. Beth Hud- son. Chris Huggler (better known as Hugglc), Skye Prather, and Dan Walters and lost Angle Garber. Val Planansky became our year’s contribution to Scotland when her father became an exchange teacher there. Our sophomore year was filled with buying class rings and receiving our driver’s licenses. School seemed to fly by and before we knew it. It was time for school to be out 12
