As the earth turns, we view the glories of Spring, the panorama of the Summer harvest, the vivid colors of Fall, and finally-- the Winter Wonderland. It is from this building that the Class of I960 has gone forth to face new challenges and new horizons after four years of intense train- ing. Those four years were not, however, with- out their share of fun. Some of the best times of our lives were had in this building. It is a building, which, in the past year, saw many important victories on the nearby football field--victories which gave the Hem- ingford squad a World-Herald rating of seventh in the State of Nebraska. It was also the scene of one of the most successful basketball seasons in recent years, approaching the success achieved in football. This building has served us students long and well as a vital point in the teen triangle of home, school, and church. Yes, this has truly been OUR school; for the past four years, we have felt a pride in it that has made us know that we could never let it down in any way. Thanks, HHS! ' £t6e o ct at 'DeacUctte, fait t£e flocf 7t s4Ctf At room 204 on almost any Thursday evening and anytime during a week preceding a deadline, phrases could be heard such as these: Will you EVER learn to spell? . . . Oh, why do all those Freshmen have to have faces? . . . Masat, for the twelfth time, WHAT is a proportion? . . . Rogowski, how many pencils does that make that you 've lost in the last five minutes? . . . etc., ad infinitum. Yes, it was a year of hard work and learning. But despite the long hours, we found it to be a job with inspiration, for we had that magic moment to look forward to--this moment, when you, the reader, open this book for the first time to inspect and, we hope, approve, our work. 6 New ?ttcuCtty Mr. LYLE FODNES English and Speech Dramatics Midland College, B.A. Mr. LEE BEEM English and Speech Dramatics Nebr. Anything that even smelled like it had sales prospects was tried at the games. These ran from old standards like popcorn and pop to weird new concoctions such as Kosher dills, carrot sticks, and red hot peppers. It was a struggle all the way to Prom time; but, you had to admit, it was always fun, even if some of the customers' jokes did get to the point of leaving you with a bit of an old taste in your mouth. For in- stance, did anyone ever keep track of just how many wiseacres asked for a bottle of popcorn for a Bag of pop during just one game? That must have been what Mr. Williams was talking about when he des- cribed infinity. Yes, you were the Juniors of 1960, determined to show the world (Seniors in particular) that you could do anything they could, only better. And, we must grudgingly admit, you just about proved it. 24 Safr io Ko e @Cci4A PATTY STEWART........................President SHARON CHRISTENSEN...................Treasurer LAVONNE CAMPBELL................Vice-President CHARLOTTE FISHER.....................Secretary Jesse Athey Gene Bedient S yfe a tuvie4 Larry Burney LaVonne Campbell Sharon Christensen Viola Condry Cheryl Coplen Mary Ellen Dickenson Waiter Dyer Billy Engel Gaylin Fickei Charlotte Fisher 26 Steve Furman Betty Heinz Wilva Hill Wanda Hinchley Larry Lehl Edward McDuffie Shirley Messersmith Sharon Osborn Jim Overstreet Douglas Price Oliver Rasmussen 27 Bonnie Riggs Georgia Schramek Sofc6a«H vie4, Douglas Shaver Beverly Shimek Karen Smith Richard Speer Patty Stewart Donald Turek Donna Turnbo Donna Wyland David Yardley 28 p%e46 n z i MARCIA HENNINGS . . Sr. PCay After changing their mind several times, the seniors finally chose Bolts and Nuts as their class play. Then after a few weeks of hard practices it was to be put on before the public. Even if there were a few mishaps, the play was a success and the seniors can feel very proud. At last the Juniors were ready to put on their very first play. There were times when they wished they had practiced just a little harder, but they got through it just the same. Yes, the Junior Class play was a great success. PC ? Jonah Jackson . There are many hours of hard work getting the stage ready before the play can be put on. The Pep Club Play was no exception, and Mr. Fodnes was kept busy answering questions. The One Act play High Window was chosen to go to the district contest where it won a superior. Members of the cast were, Betty Heinz, Patty Stewart, SanDee Todd, Don Banks, and Kent Yard ley. Two other plays, The Running Tide and Home To Mother were also presented. Conn Fickel, Emily Roan, Betty Dyer, SanDee Todd, Becky Kampbell, Jan Vedder, and Joyce Tlamka. Dcie, 07 un,6cUuf How many times did you hear Joyce Tlamka say this? It was a lot of work, but after each distribution date there was nothing to beat that sense of accomplishment. 56 tycMion,- S tton, 'Pnoat ty%a uC J?tanc6 Rickshaw centerpiece became the highlight of the evening. Here, Doug takes Betty for a ride as others wait their turns. 57 Seniors engage in tete-a-tetes But when did the Frosh ever need words? An imaginary Bus Depot was the setting for the Senior Class Night. During the course of the program members of the class gave the Will and read the Prophecy. Then the entire class assembled on the stage and sang Auld Lang Syne. After that Mr. Bosley presented the various members of the class with awards and medals. At last after four years of working and waiting, the night of graduation arrived. For some it was a sad occasion, while others had mixed feelings. But for everyone it was a night of advancement into the adult world, and a night to be remembered forever. ‘SeudetfaM ATTENDANT Lynda Rosenberger QUEEN Karen Minich ATTENDANT Patty Burne y 'Vaiettttite Royalty — Kent Yardiey Bpb Stewart Larry Masat ' K.cttdenyant t BACK ROW: I.
