'§■«v Y. - vr yr f.y-v.‘r r • ■ t • t n SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY While remlnlslng the other day I got to wondering about my former mates and friends, at dear old Helmsburg. It's been fifteen long years have seen any of them. I could't Imagine what they could be doing now. they were married or had chosen the rocky road to fame and fortune . Giving up hope of ever knowing what had become of my old friends, ally Jumped up the evening paper and lazily began to read the Sport's paj at once I saw an Item which Immediately drew my attention. It read: class- since I Whether I casu- :e. All THE INDIANAPOLIS EAGLES HAVE A NEW TEAM MANAGER: Russell Ward, who has In previous years, managed several famous basket- ball teams, today signed a contract making him the new manager of the Indianapolis Eagles. Russell was team manager for the basketball team at Helmsburg for three years. How well I remember that year In 1948, when Russell was our team manager; We had a splendid team that year and won all of our games except one. Yes, I'll never forget the look on Russell's face when the Principal and Coach awarded him with a new Basketball sweater In front of the whole school. Russell was a good team manager, and a good sport, he was well liked by all the students, and the faculty, and the team of Helmsburg High. Looking through the rest of the paper, I saw another Item which faclnated my remlnlslng thoughts.'.' TONIGHT ONLY THE STARLIGHT CLUE PRESENTS •MADAME KALINA COME TONIGHT AND LET MADAME KALINA TELL YOUR FORTUNE SHE WILL BRING BACK MANY FORGOTTEN MEMORIES PA3T-PRESENT-FUTURE■ This was the answer to my reralnlshlng thoughts. It would be quite Inter- esting to hear what this nationally famous fortune teller could tell me about my friends. Yes, I am sure she could put a very satisfying touch to my thoughts. With this In mind I Immediately called upon Madame Kalina. Right away she began telling me about my very own classmates. Helen Louise Davis Is now teaching commercial subjects at a local high school, and also In the teaching career Is Janice Fleener, who teaches the pri- mary grades of the Helmsburg Grade School. June Arnold Is still referee of the basketball games since she Is now Physical Education teacher at Helmsburg. Bill Hunter and his Missus', the former Clara Alice Barrlck, are both put- ting their talents to .good use. Clara Is teaching piano lessons to the neighbor- hood children, and Bill is the Basketball Coach of the local high school. You can rest assured that he has a winning team. Mary McCoy, the girl who used to read love stories all the time Is now writ- ing them for a New York Publishing Company. It seems Susie Bond Is as attractive as she was back In high school. She was always winning beauty contests in school, and it seems she went on to win the title of Miss Indiana of 1955 , also Miss America of 1955 . The former Wilma Fleener, now Mrs. Lawrence Parker, still goes for the Navy In a big way. Her husband la In the Navy and she dresses up all the little kid- dles In sailor suite. ,, A . Speaking of the Navy, Arthur Adams seemed to like the Navy so well that he went back in the service and the Navy liked him so well, they made him a high ranking officer. They say that a sailor has a girl in every port-—I wonder—? Esther Merrlman Is working for the good of humanity as a nurse In an India- napolis hospital. Emma 3lsson who used to be the librarian at school Is now a librarian at an Indianapolis Public Library. (Continued) Mary Volan J the former Mary Richards, now has a happy home on Greasy Creek. It seems her husband still can't figure out why he get pickles for supper every other night, and he's very tired of eating fudge all the time. Mrs. Melvin Walker, formerly Carol Wiikerson, has at least one consolatlon- when Watermelon Isn't around she can look out the window at a whole patch of watermelons. (Sigh.') That seems to be her hobby (Raising Watermelons). Eugene Turner, who Is always winning medals for his F.F.A. work, Is still doing a great deal In that line of work. He now travels around the state making speeches on the need for more F.F.A. clubs to be organized. He has organized them all over the state of Indiana. One girl who Is getting a lot of experience as a secretary Is Evelynne Vln- tergerst. I wonder If she spends more time writing letters or sitting on the boss's lap. Madame Kalina never finished telling me about the rest of the class that evening, because time caught up with us. She Invited me to her home for the next evening to hear about the rest of my fortune. On my way home from the Club, Just a very short distance from the City Lim- its, I saw a sign In front of a very neat cottage----------- 3AM FRITCH. VETERINARY I had never noticed this sign before, so I stopped to see If this could possibly be the dam Frltch who went H.H.S. Sure enough It was. Sam greeted me with that same old winning smile of his. I told him of my evening's experi- ence, and what I had heard about all of our friends and classmates. He was Just as happy to hear of them as I was, and eagerly added that he had heard from some of them that I had not mentioned. He said that Mra Bill Ryran, the former Dolly Allendar, Is now happily mar- ried, and living out of the state. Mrs. Georglana Kimberlin, formerly Georglana Kakavecos, of H.H.S. Is living In Indianapolis, and still swoons over old, but still groovy, Frankie Sinatra's records. Sam said, he never heard anything about Dorothy McCoy until one night (Just for old times sake) he and his wife came back to Brown County to visit the old Log Jail at Nashville, and who did he find his little boy talking to while he was looking at old relics, but a cute little blond haired girl who was the very picture of Dorothy. In a second or two. In came Dot calling for her little girl, and guess who was with her, none other than Bob Schroughams, It seems Dot Is now Mrs. Robert Schroughams. And then Sam said Oh.'I forgot to tell you about the most Important one; now l.et me Introduce you to my wife. He then called to his wife to come In, yes you guessed It, the former Edna Teague. Last but not least; we turned on the radio and tuned In on a comedy program, who was the star??? Eva Richards of course. I must have had a surprised look on my face for Sam was laughing at me. He said, Didn't you hear about Eva winning first prize on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts? It seems Arthur got quiet a kick out of Eva, and put her on her own show. Guess who discovered her?? Dale Glass- burn, naturally. It's sure hard to believe, but at least they're all alive and happy. Yes sir, that Senior Class of 1948, was sure a swell gang of kids.'.' THE JUNIORS Now children, said Miss Chitwood, can anyone tell me the meaning of'Unaware'? A tiny hand waved frantically In the air Please, mum, unaware Is what you put on first and take off last .
