State Music Festival Twenty-four superior ratings were achieved by instrumentalists and vocalists at the State Music Festival. The winning soloists are pictured at the right. Two ensembles of band that received a superior were: Woodwind quintet (Gayle Gillespie, Merri Hartse, Jackie Cheatham, Jace Cheatham, Carol Colwell), anil mixed clarinet quartet (Janice Harvey, Joy Darling, Kathy Layman, and J anelle Berthoud). Four vocal ensembles awarded superior ratings were: The Chevaliers, Freshman Mixed Ensemble, Mynstrelles No. 2 and the Sophomore Girls Choir. Superior string ensembles were: I he Mozart String Quartet (Nancy Lofgren, Debbie Pitts, Sally McHugh and Andrew Taylor), the Brahms String Quartet (Forest Reinhardt, Madeleine Scales, Martha Ballard and Cindy Herbig) and a violin duet (Lisa Perry and Fonda Hollenbaugb). Fourth Row: Jim Narum. Carol Colwell, Lisa Perry. Modern Dance For Modern Dance’s annual spring production, 21 girls choreographed and danced their own creations, with the help of their advisor, Mrs. Dee Vacura. The dances included “The Gallery”, “Immigrant” and a Raggedy Ann and Andy act. The dance shown at left was done by Connie Weston, Terri Rusk and Debby Dimmit, The members worked together as a group to produce a fine, well- balanced production.
