Freshman Student Council Governs Higgins Avenue Building The freshman Student Council was the governing body of the Higgins Avenue high school. All cake sales and homeroom sales had to be brought to the council for approval. Ten per cent of the Fox Courtesy card sale profits was turned over to the freshmen for their treasury. ADMINISTRATIVE The Administrative committee, headed by Dave Armstrong, chartered all school clubs, organized school elections, and interpreted the student council regulations to the home- rooms. Martha Lowe was the sponsor. Student Council Committees DIRECTING ACTIVITIES The Directing Activities committee directed bus trips and other activities and settled questions which were disputed in council. Bonnie Holt was the committee chairman. Ed Miller advised the group. Administrative Committee: left to riqht: Douq James, Mary Anne Zimmerman, Joanna Lester, Ronnie Stevens. WELFARE The Welfare committee sponsored the grounds clean-up campaign, promoted com- munity citizenship, and fostered the spirit of good fellowship in the school. Committee chairman was Lynda Westrum. AFS AFS committee helped select the AFS candidates for the summer program. Money was raised through the popcorn concession at basketball games and by sponsoring a dance. Jacque Gibson acted as chairman and Chris Wames as sponsor. PUBLICATIONS The Publication committee, under the di- rection of Jack Stevens, kept informed on all school publications and received reports on these publications.
