B )ARD OF MISSOULA COUNTY HIGH Around the table, left to right: J. M. Schroeder, E. Hunt, Vice-principal. Ed Hamel, D. H. Principal. A. F. Therriault, J. E. Hightower, Mrs. Winnafern Moore, K. H. Powell, W. T. Boone, Presi- ient, George Neff, absent. Controversy has always marked the course of hu- man events. People do not readily agree on what to do or what not to do or how to do it. Today we are besieged by those who are offering conflicting advice on everything from foreign policy to the selection of a hair tonic. No avenue of approach is overlooked by those engaged in these conflicts. They may seek to attain their own ends by legislation, indoctrination, or persuasion. Propaganda of various types provides them with powerful tools ready to use in behalf of their respective commodities, doctrines, or way of acting. The ultimate aim is so to regiment the public mind that a law may be enacted, a mental or emotional attitude developed. The rapid growth of the propaganda movement and the marked increase in the activities of pressure groups are matters of grave concern to you students who are preparing yourselves to live in a complex society. The times demand discrimination in separating the evil from the good, and courage in resolving the conflicts likely to ensue.
