Summary: Won Big 16 Conference title for sec- on season with 13 wins and four losses . . . . caused fans consternation by losing to Ana- conda in next to last game of conference season, but Butte faltered and Spartans dumped Gallatin by 38 to 24 score .... won Northern Division Tournament hands down, averaging more than 22 points per game more than opponents .... lost first game in State Tournament to Butte by three points defeated Corvallis easily .... then lost a close one to Helena, a team they had beaten by 28 points in division tournament .... C Squad The purpose of the C squad is to give bas- ketball fundamentals to freshmen and sopho- mores who might become varsity material later on. —Buzzetti. Season C Squad .... made up of freshmen .... no outside games .... prepares men for future B squad and varsity material .... several moved up to B squad during season. -----★ BASKETBALL The 1941-42 varsity basketball team was the most successful in winning championships we have had in the past eight years, winning two out of three championships, the conference and the Northern Division and missing only the state title.
