WHAT WE TOST The Purple and the Gold Oh, glorious colors of our school, Though students come and students go, In majesty wave over us Till gold fades into sunset glow. Oh, banners proud of purple hue, In truth and right be ever bright. We ’ll fling our standards to the breeze Till purple fades into the night. Betty Ann Polleys, ’32.

THE BITTER ROOT PRINCIPAL G. A. KETCHAM TO TIIE CLASS OF 1932: The fact that you are, in spite of conditions, publishing this book is evidence of your school loyalty and spirit, which you have so splendidly maintained throughout the year. At any rate your Senior year will have been different; unique in fact, giving you a certain distinction among all the classes that have gone before and, we hope, among all that are to come after. You are graduating into a world that is in process of more rapid change than history has before recorded. Your problem of adjustment to that world is one that is making your elders despair of a solution; but youth, fortunately, does not despair. You will go forward, creating a new and better world out of the institutions of the old. On your journey, I wish you courage and high endeavor; the joy of striving and adventure and progress; the thrill of fighting a good fight for things that you believe worth while; the ability to separate the permanent from the temporary, the real from the apparent, the genuine from the pretended. Here's to you, 1932! Bon Voyage! With very best wishes and heartiest congratulations, I am Your very sincere friend, G. A. KETCHAM, Principal.
