These prod- uctions range in theme from traditional to con- temporary, including plays like Scrooge and modern-day musi- cals like Cool in the Furnace . Often the students' own works are exhibited for evalua- tion by their peers. The 1975-1976 school year in retrospect has been a collage of creativ- ity expressed through in- dividual student projects, class projects, and com- petition among classes, such as the annual Thanksgiving Basket Con- test. Washington- Williamsburg Heiskell students look forward to the sixth and seventh grades, when they can go on the Washington-Williamsburg trip. The journey begins with a sleepless night on the Southern Crescent. The itinerary in Washington includes tours of the major points on interest fincluding Arlington, Alexandria, and Mount Vernonl, with per- sonal visits to our Georgia senators' of- fices where special attention is given to our group. From the Washington area, the students are taken by bus to Wil- liamsburg, where they participate in edu- cational tours designed for our group by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and dine at the colonial taverns and the Williamsburg Inn. After a tour of James- town and Yorktown, this memorable trip ends with a flight from Newport News to Atlanta. P. 50 Top: Kitsy Granger, Mrs. Dawn Edge, Linda Franks. Heiskell students welcomed the third century of our nation with two outstanding projects utilizing the talents of the entire student body. The Bicentennial musical in February presented a panorama of our history as a country in song, dance, and instrumental music. At that time, The Heiskell School recieved a certificate from the American Revolutionary Bicentennial Commission, as the first school in the country to be recognized for its official bicen- tennlal project. This project in- volved a survey of each of the two hundred historical markers in Ful- ton County, as well as a brass rubbing of each one. This infor- mation has been forwarded to the State Department of Natural Fle- sources as an integral part of the state-wide assessment of histori- cal sites. 3 'Z v.1GV 'a vve-5 R01 3' xi I y l-leiskell Celebrates Uncle Sarn's 200th Birthday E 3 to 3,1-X ' ' 1sf-2f ., . 2' ' 'x , n .
