Working late into the night, the staff of the Ki! learns the feeling of reward that can only come from seeing a difficult task completed. Delta Sigma Chi The Delts were formed in February of 1962, choosing the colors of navy and white. Their flower, the white mum, symbolizes purity. The motto is Dianoias Stephanos Chryseos, The crown of wisdom is golden. Among the fall activities in which the Delts participate are the fall closed dance, the annual dessert 'party given by the previous year's pledge class for the pledge classes of the other seven societies, the Intersociety Sing. This year the Delts were proud to welcome back their '65 graduates for their first Homecoming Alumni Tea. There is usually a softball game with another society, this year it was with the Sigs. Then to round out the first semester they have a Christmas Carol party complete with Santa Claus. During the second semester, attention centers around pledging and the accompanying parties, the annual closed dance, the Sing Out Banquet, and the Spring Banquet. The Delts feel that their purpose on Heidelberg's campus is to help fill the need for women's social societies and to strengthen cooperation and understanding between the administration, faculty, and the student body. Homecoming saw them win first place for their float, which is just one of the many unique of their society. The society now consists of a more versatile group and has become a more prominent in our campus activities. Aps are found participating in many campus activities such as music, theatre, and campus clubs. The men of Alpha Phi Tau participated in the sing and went around to the women's dorms singing Christmas Carols. In intramural sports, the Aps have fielded teams for every sport. Along with the open halls, the society has three closed dances, participates in the Serenades, and has a Spring Banquet. Thus, as the year draws to an end, the Aps look to the future with confidence of continued growth. Adv. Prof. Yanney. u Sigma Alpha During 1965 the men of Nu Sigma Alpha found it easy to live up to their motto, Victory Crowns the Brave. For the second year in a row the overall trophy for society intramurals found its place in the Heid trophy case. Along side it stood another won in the first college debate, March, 1965. As always, the men who wear the purple and gray kept their year well filled with activities both within and outside the society. Heids participate in a wide variety of campus activities, including music, theatre, debate, pub- lications, WHCR, varsity athletics, and student leadership as they seek to meet the four objectives of the society -to further leadership, to further the pursuit of literary accomplishment, to further scholastic achievement and athletics, and to promote fraternal friendship and social activities. Important society activities include the traditional Thanksgiving Dance, the second annual hayride, and the annual Christmas party for the needy children of Tiffin. The social calendar was completed with closed dances, hall re- modeling, extended pledging, and the spring banquet. -'-we Sophomores: Row 1: D. Minns, D. Bish- op, J. Boton, M. Beck, J. Metzger, N. Consequently, this aim has developed in most members the inclination to put forth their best efforts for the society and the college. On November 13, 1913, the society chose the name Philalethean or Lovers of Truth, in View of the spirit, loy- alty, and unity, which would always characterize their sisterhood to each other and to the campus as a whole. The Phis selected the colors of gold and green, the mascot of a duck, and the yellow rose to represent their society. During the year the Phis participate in their own society's activities such as the Phi Doe, Novelty Dance, Phi Day, Serenade, Phi Chaw, Phi Phair and Open House, Spring Banquet and Singout Banquet. Outside of their so- ciety, the Phis participate with the other societies in the Intersociety Sing, Intersociety Tea, pledging, and in sports. The Phis also extend their interests to campus clubs and activities where their participation as well as their leader- ship is found. 5 Yr. Sophomores: Row 1: S. Hedrick, J. Mark sta.h1er, E. From that time, the men of Sigma Tau Nu have excelled in scholarship, leadership, sportsmanship, and music. Initiative and fraternal spirit are the qualities which keep the Sigs together as one. The society is represented by the colors gold and blue. The Sigs are continually participating in campus activi- ties and working on their social calendar, which annually includes the Homecoming float, the Sig Sweetheart Dance, pledging, intramurals, Intersociety Sing, the Spring Serenade, and the Spring Banquet. This year, a few new activi- ties, such as migrations to pro-football games, the bedrace, and various community projects, have been added to their social calendar. With their motto, Nulli Secundus CSecond to Nonej, and their sword and their flower, the yellow rose, and their shield, the Sigs continually strive to improve intersociety, administration, and campus relations. wxxwisiwisslsg 4. g - X Sophomores: Row 1.'
