Except for number, the administration and faculty of Heidelberg College have not changed a great deal. Briefcases, attendance slips, record books, prepared lectures, study guides, and heavy-eyed students at 7:50 classes-all these remain constant in faculty lives. They impart knowledge, provide inspiration and direction, and almost effortlessly contrive new learning experiences. And yet, they exact the best performance from the student. They even succumb to the student's den of iniquity, the Castle, to prove that they are liberal and anxious to promote student-faculty relationships on the campus. Duties that the faculty are subjected to include: chaperoning college func- tions, advising the numerous organizations, and appearing before their mail- boxes at least once daily. This academic year brought many changes in l-leidelberg's faculty and administration. Nearly every department gained a new professor. From far and Wide they came to serve our college-from Zurich, Switzerland to Water- loo, Ontario. Our former Dean of Men and Women have been replaced by previous members of the faculty, Dean Archie Thomas and Dean Helen Reynolds. Mr. Paul Hoernemann assumed the position of Vice-President, and We were honored by the addition of Dean of the College Krout. President of the College Wickham started our 1963-64 academic year with a convocation address which urged students, faculty-the entire college community-to drive faster in academic pursuits. We cannot overlook the work of the administrative body in public relations whose endless efforts echo the endeavors of an ever-expanding college com- munity and seek to unite the past with the present. Indeed, our kings play a vital role in our college traditions-past, present, and future.
