Mr. Louis Whorton, former Hector High coach, was the guest speaker at com- mencement exercises. In the center the graduating class, families, and friends listen to Rev. Bull speak. Principal Leon McLean presented awards and scholarships at the commencement program. 6

Golden Years. Outstanding seniors were recognized at graduation. Above Pam Kirk is awarded the Leadership Award. Below Dale Jones is presented with the Citizenship Award by Mr. Leon McLean. Both honors are awarded by the high school faculty to seniors who have contributed their all to Hector High School. 5

Hayley Tester, Karen Lask, and Rolaine Green provided special music for baccalaureate and graduation. Above, these guys get a smile like that three times a year: deer season, senior skip day, and graduation. Ushers, middle left, chosen by the senior class were James Bohanan, Lani Hopper. Mark Ragsdale, Kay launius, Kenny Barton, and Beverly McGowan. The class flower was a golden rose. At one time they were assembled together as the senior class was. At graduation each senior took a rose with him as he went his separate way though he will always be one of the Class of 78. Below, the senior ensemble sang Time is but a Moment” written and dedicated to the senior class by Miss Rolaine Green. 7
