Last year we were all saddened by the deaths of five Hector boys. Nothing can ever tarnish or dim the wonderful memories we have of these boys. As a symbol of our feelings, we want to dedicate this annual to them. It is our desire to commemorate the 1969-1970 Wildcat Annual in memory of our friends and students. Bill Freeman Jerry Freeman Joseph Daniel Hale Floyd Parks Louis Chisum IN DEEPEST APPRECIATION . . . Hector lost a true friend on May 19, 1969 with the death of Mr. Leslie Langford. Mr. Langford not only served as president of the Hector School Board for ten years, but took an active interest in the students and was an outstanding citizen in the community. All of us owed Mr. Langford an unpayable debt of gratitude. We wish to express our appre- ciation by dedicating the 1969-1970 Wildcat Annual in memory of Mr. Langford. 2 TABLE OF CONTENTS TITLE PAGE ..............i DEDICATION ............. 2 INTRODUCTION ............4 HIGHLIGHTS.............. 6 ADMINISTRATION .........22 CLASSES SENIOR HIGH ........ 28 JUNIOR HIGH......... 43 ELEMENTARY ............ 51 ACTIVITIES ............ 69 SPORTS ............... 91 ADVERTISEMENTS.........107 3 “Ask and it shall be given you; Seek and ye shall find; Knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh, a door shall be opened. We are at the door. What lies on the other side9 Will we have the tools and abilities needed to open each new door7 All through our lives we are challenged with many deci- sions concerning our goals. Whch door will lead us in a straight, true path to our objective7 Through our school work we obtain many of the tools needed to open each door and overcome the obstacles. But education is just the beginning of a series of doors, each of which can open up a totally new aspect of life and present us with many rewarding experiences. The future is still dark, but as we pass through each new door, we are supplied with the abilities needed to guide us. What the future holds depends on us and our willingness to open each new door. f We want to present the DOOR as the theme for this year s annual. Our sincere desire is to capture some of the joys, laughter and even tears of the past year. We hope that you can treasure these moments and memories forever. Each boy has excelled in all of these qualities. These boys have certainly played the game hard this year. Victory or defeat, they always gave their opponent a tough fight. Our goal was to capture some of the magic of the past year as clearly and mean- ingfully as possible. Each new door of- fered us with fresh material: the first ball games, sneaking candy in class, the snow holi- days, semester exams, the smell of spring. We have opened these doors and passed through. The walls and corridors of Hector High will never again see a year as that of 1969-70. As eachsen- ior passes through the door, new, fresh faces enter. Thus the door is never closed nor is the story complete. This year is unique in itself, yet it is only a key in the door. What lies ahead?Al- ready the faint light of summer is peeking through the keyhole. All Types of Insurance Real Estate BURNETT-TURNER INSURANCE AGENCY C.R. Turner B.J. We appreci- ate their contribution in the production of the WILDCAT. We would also like to thank all the teachers at Hector High for their sincere understanding and cooperation. Having staff meetings, taking pictures, meeting deadlines, have all interrupted classes. It can become hectic at times and we are grateful for their tolerance and assistance. The biggest thanks goes to Mrs. Toni Couch, who has guided and directed us, who has had en- during patience and who has freely taken on the job of annual sponsor.
