Mrs. Boland presented a free cookbook to Joyce Coffman as an award for selling the most cookbooks. The cook- books, which the girls sold, financed the banquet. Mrs. Swaim was surprised to learn that the girls really knew how to cook! 9

JUNIOR - SENIOR BANQUET The Juniors held another one of their “famous class meetings to decide where and when they would have their banquet. The ‘'Marina’’ was a beautiful setting for the Junior-Senior Banquet. The theme, Moonlight and Roses provided for a wonderful atmosphere and a memorable banquet. Musical entertainment for the banquet was provided by Judy Davis, Sam Coffman. James Standridge, Ron Sumter, and Mike Collins.

P.T.A. TALENT SHOW In April 1968 the Hector P.T.A. sponsored a talent show. The grade school performed a ‘‘Tom Thunb Wedding. The bride was Judy Huffman; the bridegroom was Frank Pruitt, and the preacher was Ronnie Hooten. The fifth and sixth grade did a square dance as their talent number. Mr. Bell, Bucky Snider, and Bobby Standridge played guitar instrumentals. Amot » the songs they played were Rambling Rose, Raunchy, and “Wild Weed Flower. The Poor Richards which consisted of Sam Coffman, Ted Hern, Mike Biffle, and Ron Sumter added vocal enter- tainment to the show. 10
