After starting the 1974 football season with no lights, then going into an overtime game and one that was cut short because of the energy shortage, it was an above average year for the Bulldogs. They ended with a 5-4 overall record and a 4-3 conference record placing third in the conference. It was the first season that the conference was split into the east and west half, Hector participating in the west. Two members of the team were chosen to the All- Conference team. The two members were Jack Miller at fullback and Mark Serbus at linebacker.
