On Friday afternoon, June l, festivities were begun with the playing of the annual baseball game, this year against Deering High School of Portland. just as Hebron was catching up to the sizable lead built up by Deer- ing in the early innings a violent rain and thunder storm washed out any further baseball and left Deering the winner. Afterward, the annual tea and reception was held at the Headmaster's House. At the Commencement Banquet the main address was delivered by Professor Robert C. Albion, Professor of Naval History at Harvard University, on Our New World Responsibi1i-- ties. Musical entertainment was provided by the Band and the Glee Club. Mr. Daniel Chase of the Class of 1904 and Executive Director of the Sportsmanship Brotherhood presented a cita- tion from this organization to Mr. Dwyer for his outstanding qualities of sportsmanship. David Hambleton, President of the Senior Class, presented Mr. Allen with a check to be used for the purchase of new microscopes for the Biology Laboratory, new hymn books for the Hebron Community Church, and books for the school libraries, the gifts of the Class of 1956.
