TO ALL OF THE STUDENTS OF OUR JIM HOGG COUNTY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT During the last four years, it has been my privilege and pleasure to have been associated with you in a supervisory capacity. l have watched the high school enrollment double itself in those four years, and we are no longer one of the smaller high schools in South Texas. Our students have not only made good records for themselvesin our schools locally but they are also making good records for themselves in the colleges and universities of our state. We still have manyimprovements to make - a long road to travel - before we can hold our heads up proudly and proclaim that we have reached the pinnacle of achievement for ourselves and for those who will follow us, Therefore, I charge each of you with the responsibility - whether you are a graduate or an undergraduate - of working hard and continuingto improve your mental, physical and social standards in our public schools. Education is an investment by the state in the potentialities of its citizens, and like any other investor, the state expects a profit on the time, money and effort expended.
