Way back in that almost forgotten year of 1939, thirty six little faces appeared at dear old H. H. S. for their first year. We were all eager to learn and we studied hard, although everything was new to us. We, like all the rest of the lower grades, were striving for that almost unattainable goal--the seventh grade. After six hard years of study and much work we finally reached it. We entered the seventh grade with forty-six pupils, six of whom had joined our class from Zion. Those were real days! Hie fun we had and the feeling that at last we were really growing up! It was in the eighth grade that Mr. Lindenberg became principal. Believe me--we felt pretty important when we received those diplomas. At last in 1947, we were entering high school with only 31 members. We were finally green freshmen. Thelma Hazelwood was chosen president of our class that year. Three short months of vacation and then we were Sophomores. This year Eleanor Prields was elected to lead our class. This was the year when the Sophomores beat the Seniors to win the Interscholastio Basketball Tournament. That was really something to be proud of! The next thing we knew we were Juniors and Ernest Wilson was our presiding officer. This was the year when Cupid stepped in to take a couple of our classmates, Edith Preels Capeheart and Eugene Haire. In spite of this we were really very jolly. And now we are Seniors with only twenty-three members left. What happened to the rest of the thirty-six? We don't know. Only fourteen of these Seniors have completed their entire twelve years of schooling at Hebbardsville. Jimmie Ball was elected president of our class this year, which was the most important and exciting year of all. We had many problems and things looked black at times, but Kr. Parke, our sponsor, helped us to solve these difficulties. As we leave the halls of H. H. S. we will always remember the teachers who spent their time and strived so hard to teach us and make our life worth while.
