CLASS HISTORY The old clock in the auditorium has run forward for years, but this evening we shall turn it back 33,234 hours to September 6, 1937, a big day in the lives of each of us. We were twenty-five green freshmen in this school. Gradually as the old clock ticked away that year, some joined our ranks while others left. Mischievous cupid was at work while work itself was responsible for the absence of some. Those leaving us that year were Otis Boswell, Juanita Jewell, Mac Spencer, Marion Spences, and William Priest. Spring came, and the clock took a vacation for the summer, but time for us passed on just the same. The clock began to tick. It was September again, and we were Sophomores. As usual nothing exciting happens to sopho- mores, so with diligent study we made hay while the sun shone. Another September found us juniors. Our pride began to swell. Tommie Fisher left our ranks this year. The end of the year found us changing captains. Mr. Smith left us under the capable guidance of Mr. Sharp. Our last summer vacation passed slowly. It seemed that September would never come. Imagine, we were seniors. Tick-tock, tick-tock, around and around the hand began to move. Little did it know what was in store for this group before it stopped for us in May. We got off to a rush by ordering our rings and invitations the second week of school. In our studies we began with a de- gree of hesitancy. During the fall our teacher would say, “Prepare, prepare, prepare for the end.” However, no one could convince us, so we put it off. But as the pendulum of the clock gained momentum, we were forced to keep pace. Harold Nichols and John Nutter left us last year and we find ourselves, a group of eighteen. t Our school is over (so they say) for most of us. A few of us will go on, some will marry, some will seek a fortune in life, but altogether we shall i hold dear the memories of our school days at old H. H. S. — — 10 —

CLASS MOTTO Where there’s a will, there’s a way. CLASS FLOWER Blue Violets CLASS COLORS Royal Blue and White CLASS POEM MEMORIES There comes the day in everyone’s life When he has to start on his own. And we have nearly reached the height, When each thinks he is grown. We’ve studied hard to reach our goal. Our teachers have been a great help. All the way it seemed so slow, We’ve taken it step by step. We won’t forget our classmates and friends, Though we’ll soon be drifting apart; Traveling on the roads of faith and hope, With a memory and a song in our hearts. Our days are now drawing near, In the school we’ve loved and cherished. The wind seems to say to those who listen, Success, Success and good cheer.” Joe Priest Williams.
