CLASS HISTORY It has often been remarked that history has a peculiar way of repeating itself, and so to a certain extent the history of our class is much like the history of classes which have gone before, and of others which will follow. For various reasons, the members of the Heavensr High School Senior Olase of 1945 are, we believe, a particularly promising group, as is shown by the fact that if they want something bad enough they'll work hard to get it. Early in our high school life a class organization was formed and the following officers were selected for class leadership: Freshman: Sponsor ..... ..... Mr . Boren President . . . ....... Jodie Edge Vice Pres. .... . . . ...Bill Little Sao. 6 Trsas. ..... Mary Jens Briggs Sophmore: Sponsor ........... Hrs. Mable Myres President ...... ' ......... Jodie Idge Vice President. . .Stanley Cruthirde Sec. A Trees ...... Billy H. Addison Junior: Sponsor ..... Miss Winifred Langston President .' ............ Billy Austin Vice Pres.. .. . . .. . .Fred Woolard Sec. 8 Treas.. .. . . . .Frances Layne Senior: Sponsor ..... Kiss Winifred Langston President .............. Bob Lindsey vice Pres ..... ........ De en Hill Sec. A Treas. ........ Frances Layne Since it often happens that the men and women of affairs have received their training and experience in leadership during their years in high school, we believe that these officers will- find their knowledge and experience gained here of great advantage to them later in life. In point of scholastic achievement our class has not lagged behind other classes and year by year the class of '45 has won many medals and scholarships. This would appear to be almost enough, but it does not complete the telling of the story by any means. Socially, our activities have been all that could be expected of us and perhaps all that it was wise for us to undertake without infringing upon the more serious business of our class room. Among the outstanding social affairs to which we will all look back with happy memories are the parties, picnics, and the weiner roasts we had when we were Freshman and Sophmoresg the Junior play and Jr.-- Sr. banquet, which we of course considered one of the best, the Senior play and the wonderful banquet that was given to us by the Juniors of '45. Besides these many of our class have had time and energy for other things, and have shared in work which has been worth while: Glee club, pep club, band, paper staff, student council, annual staff, and many others too numerous to mention. As a class we feel that we have been especially favored in faculty leadership with Mr. C. B. Frederick, Mr. John B. Prock, Miss Winifred Ia-ngston, Mr. G. P. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Stricklen, Mr. Reeder Thornton, Mr. Carrol Davis, Mies Arna Faye Dolph, Mrs. Luretha Pinnell, Mrs. Verdle G-oss, Mrs. Gladys Bell, Miss Marne Kennedy, and Mr. Bryan Smith. And now the curtain is going down on the history of the Class of 1945, but in reality the Big Parade is just beginning. The bugle cells ....... Forward larch! Color: Flower: Purple and Gold Orchid . Motto: DO unto others as you would have them do unto you.
