To the Annual Staff of the Heavener Wolf School Year 1943-44 This is to congratulate you for doing an outstanding piece of work in the development and production of our annual. Although the writer has not had the pri- vilege of working with you, he has in e measure shared with you in your disappointments and your achievements I know that you have worked faithfully to make this the best 'Wolf' ever published for this school. Many fine compliments have been passed by members of the faculty, patrons of our schools, and the student body, all of which were sincere and deserving. It should be the purpose of all of us to uphold thebest traditions of our schools. I know that this has been your desire throughout the hours and days you have devoted to this worthy project. Much credit is due your High School Principal, Mr. Prock. He has worked faithfully and diligently with you. No doubt your experiences are much richer as a result of your endeavors. 'Like the vine round the trunk of the tree, The law runneth forward and back For the strength of the pack is the wolf, And the strength cf the wolf is the pack.' Sincerely y rs, C. B: Frederick iff? As our class leader we selected Donald Crawford to the presidency, while the pleasantly ardous task of sponsoring a lively Freshmen class fell to Mr. R.P. Box-en, Ihring the Halloween season we chose Stella Holland as our candidate for Qaeen, and although we weren't able to elect her, we had fun trying. Among the pleasant memories of that year are recorded a wiener roast, and a trip to Cedar Lake, the latter destined to become an annual affair for our class. When another fall had rolled around we had become Sophomores, somewhat fewer in number, but far from diminished in spirit. This time we chose James Vs.:-ner as our president, and believing we should pass the pleasure of close association with our group as far as possible, gave to Mr. C' B. Frederick the honor of becoming our sponsor. Again we failed to elect a Halloween Queen, though the failure could not have been due to the popular- ity of our candidate, Modena Leard. A gymn party, along with Cedar Lake, were our principal entertainments. And then we were Juniors. Some where in High School a class generally manages to choose one of the hardest working teachers to have as a sponsor. This was our year, and Mrs. Gose was ably seconded by another worker, Mrs. Finnell. Though with Betty Blanche Myers as president we did not need two sponsors to keep us under control, that Junior play, Jr. Sr. Banquet, Hobo Day, and so forth just required all the help we could get. with the play, Winning Winnie' and Hobo dey we can say, with pardonable pride, we did all right. You'll have to ask the '43 Seniors about the banquet, but I've heard none of them complain. For our own entertainment, we had Cedar Lake again, and when detty Jo Ives failed to become Halloween Queen, well, it must have been just plain lack of finances among the Junior supporters, At last our year arrived. The fall of '43, and we were Seniors! Quite a few of the original gang had fallen by the wayside, but the rest of us were going strong. This year we wanted the strongest organization we could build as we had a lot to do. Glenn Johnston became our president, and to take no chances, we picked Jodie Edge as V:lce.President. Then Billy Mae Langston as Secretary-treasurer completed our efficient group, Mr. John E. Prock accepted the post of sponsor, and, still taking no chances, we added Mrs. Gose and Mrs. Bell to his staff. They have served us well. Halloween passed end- you guessed it, still no Qmeen, though Johnnie Lou 'Iurner was our candidate. But we got that one back-:f she made a goof Football Qneeng and for good measure when Betty Jo Ives acame Band Qzeen. Our class proved its merit with a dandy Senior play, Corporal -Jeep , and efficient handling of the school paper and annual. Our social season was rounded off with an enjoyable outing at Cedar Lake fegainl on Senior day, and a fine banquet from the Juniors. 'l'hey'ra not so bad, really. In its four years our class has faired well in the field of scholastic attainment, with our share of honors and scholarshipsg and also we kept up our end of the activities of the school. We have been a happy class, and sincerely hope that the rumored presence of High School teachers in Vinita cannot be traced directly to the graduating class of '44, We feel deeply the dept of gratitude which we owe a fine corps of teachers for their labor with us and their sympathy toward us during our High School years. Among that group whom we will always remember are Mrs. Goss, Mrs. Bell, Hrs. Plnnell, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Davis, Mr. Strickland, Mr. Thornton, Mr. Frederick, Mr. Prock, Mr. Smith, and Miss Langston. Our four years of pleasing association has ended, and we answer the call of life as so many members ot our class have already met the call to arms, ready and unafraid, with confidence in God and Country.
