Time Marches On 1938 JANUARY Why are all the Senior girls smiling? It must be a new student-No, just our third music teacher this year. Meet him girls, Mr. Charles Farmer. Seniors receive class pins-real spiffy looking. Another victory-The Pirates defeat Me- tropolis 27-23. A lesson is taught when Ten Nights In A Bar Room, is presented in chapel. The Pirates elect Carolyn Tanner as their Queen. Mrs. Smith returns to school as good as new . Seniors the time is quickly passing away- make the most of it. A very impressive ceremony was performed when the Basketball Queen was crowned. Hark! A hero- Jiggs Carneal made the final goal to defeat Barlow in a hard-fought game 13-12. Do you wanna buy a duck? No, the Seniors have changed it to Do you wanna buy an annual? Again the good name of H. H. S. gets around the country. We receive thehonor of being hosts to the District Tournament. Parlor Scoutingn is a thing of the past with our Scouts. The display in chapel proved this. The Pirates add another victory to their list by defeating Calvert City by a score of 31-12. The Pirates break their six-game winning streak as they bow to Tilghman by a score of 33-22. FEBRUARY Miss Marshall presents Look Me 111 The Eye? The Ground Hog , must be a symbol of good luck, for the Pirates defeat Barlow in an overtime period by a score of 23-22, in an Invitational Charity Tournament staged at Heath. 3. The wonder working Pirates add another trophy to the case as they defeat Reidland by a score of 34-19. The trophy was a gift of the Lion's Club. 4. The Pirates suffer defeat as they lose to Pilot Oak by a score of 31-22. 8. The Pirates are victorious over Lone Oak by a score of 26-18. 14. The Pirates really did shine tonight as they unwound Sharpe's undefeated.record by a score of 35-20. 16. Martha Sue Mays is elected Spring Festival Queen. 17. John E. Harting is winner of Americanism contest sponsored by Paducah junior Cham- ber of Commerce. 18. The Pirates play for practice as they defeat Brewers S2-10. 23. Juniors entertain Seniors with a George Washington banquet. 25. Lone Oak turns the tables on the Pirates as they defeat them by a score of 18-16. MARCH 3-4-5. District Tournament held at Heath. 11-12. Regional Tournament held at Murray. 15. Barkley Medal Contest. 25-26. Music contest held at Murray. APRIL 1. Miss Marshall and Seniors present Mignon- ette. 8. The junior Class presents Father Goes Domestic. 12. Merit Badge show by Scouts. 11-12-13-14-15. Time off. Teachers' at K. E. A. 17.
