y . lla. CDur School-- AUGUST School days for S80 pupils. Freshmen and new teachers are just now finding their way about the vast building at H. H. S. Mrs. Kelley accepts position with city schools in Paducah. We all hate to see her leave. SEPTEMBER Coach Carroll starts his boys into training by organizing a baseball team. We conquer Reidland in our first game. Labor Day. Everyone enjoys a holiday. Mr. Charles E. Woods entertains the students in chapel by giving a talk on the Boy Scouts Jamboree in Holland. Politics started all ready-The Pirata Staff is elected. Mr. Koon and the judging team journey to Louisville to the State fair. Fun for all. H. H. S. is host to a carnival. Miss Thyra Creekmur arrives as our new music teacher. Students crave milk-H. H. S. purchases a cow. We enjoy a half-holiday and go to the fair at Carson Park. Election day for cheer leaders-no fights reported. We are learning to be farmers right by the purchase of two pigs. They have been christened Coca and Cola . OCTOBER Why is everyone dressed up, I wonder? Pictures for annual taken. Students enjoy holiday while teachers journey to F. D. E. A. Why are the Seniors so popular? Oh! They have received their class rings. The fair begins today. Basketball boys must have enjoyed themselves too much-lost to Pilot Oak 15-13. Second day of fair--Elementary grades give Tom Tbumbk Wedding? Miss Marshall and cast present Easy Money . Bang! Bang! Don't get excited. Ag. boys are building a barn. Is Miss Creekmur in love? fLove sick.j She goes home for a two-weeks rest. Day By Day NOVEMBER No more lectures in chapel on XVednesday morning. An amateur program is started and everyone has a chance to display their talent. The Pirates defeat Bandana 36-8. B-r-r-rl Old man winter is snooping around here again. Heath romps over Lone Oak by a large score of 3 S-19. The Pirates again show their fighting ability by defeating Lynn Grove 11-10. Everyone is getting shot fwith a needlej- T. B. tests given. Pirates chalk up another victory over Cal- vert City 24-18. Turkey--Yum-Yum. Thanksgiving Com- munity Day. Oh! These grand holidays. Why doesn't Thanksgiving come more often? DECEMBER Picture show presented in chapel, Girl of lb Limberlostn. The Pirates are still carrying on their win- ning pace by defeating Barlow 19-14. The Seniors are in deep sympathy. Dennis Upshaw, a member of our Sophomore class, was fatally injured. Safety rules are flashed on the screen. The Chevrolet Motor Co. presents a moving pic- ture in chapel. The Debaters try their skill by debating Tilghman. The Pirates suffer their second defeat of the season from Sharpe 22-19. Mrs. Smith is on a leave of absence due to a major oper- ation. The Dramatic Club, under the direction of Mrs. Harvey Koch, presents He Was a Gay Sc'n0rita.', Martha Nan Allen becomes landlady in the Cafeteria. Helen Orr is substitute Prof for Mrs. Smith. The basketball boys are all smiles-measure- ments taken for new suits. We are all nice boys and girls-hope Santa thinks so. The Pirates are at it again-they defeat Reidland 25-20. Christmas Vacation. Merry Christmas To All. The Pirates display their skill by defeating their city rival-Tilghman 27-19. Just as I thought. Wedding bells are ringing for Miss Creekmur-Congratulations. lll

Time Marches On 1938 JANUARY Why are all the Senior girls smiling? It must be a new student-No, just our third music teacher this year. Meet him girls, Mr. Charles Farmer. Seniors receive class pins-real spiffy looking. Another victory-The Pirates defeat Me- tropolis 27-23. A lesson is taught when Ten Nights In A Bar Room, is presented in chapel. The Pirates elect Carolyn Tanner as their Queen. Mrs. Smith returns to school as good as new . Seniors the time is quickly passing away- make the most of it. A very impressive ceremony was performed when the Basketball Queen was crowned. Hark! A hero- Jiggs Carneal made the final goal to defeat Barlow in a hard-fought game 13-12. Do you wanna buy a duck? No, the Seniors have changed it to Do you wanna buy an annual? Again the good name of H. H. S. gets around the country. We receive thehonor of being hosts to the District Tournament. Parlor Scoutingn is a thing of the past with our Scouts. The display in chapel proved this. The Pirates add another victory to their list by defeating Calvert City by a score of 31-12. The Pirates break their six-game winning streak as they bow to Tilghman by a score of 33-22. FEBRUARY Miss Marshall presents Look Me 111 The Eye? The Ground Hog , must be a symbol of good luck, for the Pirates defeat Barlow in an overtime period by a score of 23-22, in an Invitational Charity Tournament staged at Heath. 3. The wonder working Pirates add another trophy to the case as they defeat Reidland by a score of 34-19. The trophy was a gift of the Lion's Club. 4. The Pirates suffer defeat as they lose to Pilot Oak by a score of 31-22. 8. The Pirates are victorious over Lone Oak by a score of 26-18. 14. The Pirates really did shine tonight as they unwound Sharpe's undefeated.record by a score of 35-20. 16. Martha Sue Mays is elected Spring Festival Queen. 17. John E. Harting is winner of Americanism contest sponsored by Paducah junior Cham- ber of Commerce. 18. The Pirates play for practice as they defeat Brewers S2-10. 23. Juniors entertain Seniors with a George Washington banquet. 25. Lone Oak turns the tables on the Pirates as they defeat them by a score of 18-16. MARCH 3-4-5. District Tournament held at Heath. 11-12. Regional Tournament held at Murray. 15. Barkley Medal Contest. 25-26. Music contest held at Murray. APRIL 1. Miss Marshall and Seniors present Mignon- ette. 8. The junior Class presents Father Goes Domestic. 12. Merit Badge show by Scouts. 11-12-13-14-15. Time off. Teachers' at K. E. A. 17. Baccalaureate sermon, Rev. L. K. Bishop, speaker. 19. Seniors entertain with Class Night. 21. Musical Review. Gala affair. ' 22. Last get together for Seniors-Community Day. 22. Commencement night-Seniors say, Good- bye, dear old Heath?
