LAMB HILL LONG ROTH HILL Plrates... This is Lamb's first year as a basketeer in Heath High, and he has proven himself to be one of the best prospects for the positions left by graduating seniors. Williglm has led the second team offense during the year and has always managed to get in the other teamis way. He is 6, tall and weighs 155. Moss broke into the main ten this year and has been a regular second team man. Although Moss plays forward and is a high scorer, he al- ways gets in front of a good pass and keeps the ball going the Pirates' way. Moss is another junior and S' 10 tall. Keep going Moss! Clyde H., Pot is short and fast. He plays an offensive game and takes advantage of his short height. Pot was too good for the second team, but not quite strong enough for the first five so he didn't show as much action as he is capable of. Pot is another one who will be missed next year. Al, Juny , is another sure shotn. Like Pot , he was between the second and varsity teams and didn't get the action he was capable of giving. Roth is 5' 10N tall and weighs 133 pounds. As he is only a junior, he will be a valuable asset next season. Although Louis hasn't reached the height that Charlie did, he has been an outstanding guard on the second team. His height, S' 10 makes him a good pivot and crip shot man. He is death,' on fouls. Louis is only a junior and will be in there scrapping next season. 1 I ' ' -. Hg' 3.l'?L'b,. LANUP MANNING CATHEY HARTING CARNEAL Pluntlerlnq Canup broke into the main five this year to fill Charlie Hillls shoes and is doing it exceed- ingly well. He has led the team's scoring and has been an excellent pivot man. His long arms and 6' 31' height make him a good defense man. Canup will be a valuable man next season. Jim Ed, prancing, pivoting, parading-all this rolled in one makes a grand forward of Jim Ed. His improvement over last year in learning to shoot at the right goal has made him one of the most valuable men of the first five. Jim Ed came to us in ,36 and has been one of the first ten since. Good sportsmanship is the outstanding characteristic of jim Ed on the floor. When they start the line-up next season, there will be a vacancy that will be hard to fill. Cathey, one of the hottest basketeers of the season, is expected to be an outstanding player of '39. Quickness in thought and action make him an asset to the team both under the basket f goal and out on the floor. Ralph may be de- scribed as the hardest fighter and best scrapper on the team. joseph, Joe , six feet and 160 pounds of bronze and muscle, has been a regular guard for the past two seasons. He has proved to be one of the main cogs in the Pirates' defense. Joe's ability and experience enable him to sink many sure shots with accuracy above the average. Joe is a senior and will be greatly missed when the call for basketball is sounded next season. Lansdel, Jiggs , is the coolest and smoothest player of the season. Although handicapped by his size and height, he made up for it in his quick thinking and continual scrapping. Jiggs is 5' 9 tall and weighs 140 pounds. He will always be remembered for his winning shot made in the last thirteen seconds of the Barlow game. His ability to keep his fellow players scrapping is a valuable trait and will be hard to replace. 70 . T , . 'sf T ,, . . - ..
