Page forly three The Cafeteria is one of the new departments in the school this year. Miss Mathis plans the meals, Mr. Leon Smith manages the financial affairs, and Mrs. Smith super- vises the thirty-five girls in the preparation and serving of the meals. An average of one hundred and twenty-five students are served daily. Children who bring their lunches are privileged to eat in che cafeteria also. There is no general luneh peiiod, Classes are so scheduled that serving starts at 11 o'clock and continues until 1 o,eloek serving every 25 minutes, thus enabling all to be served without over-crowded conditions or confusion. -.,.g5,f The Home Economics Club has advanced rapidly and gained due recognition this year. Among the various activities of the club are: A Christmas Party, St. Patrielsis Day Party and a reception for the mothers of the elub meinbers. The Club made two CAFETERIA - HUME EEUNUMIC5 CLUB quilts to finance a trip for the club representatives, Vergie Anderson and Audrie Stone, to the State Conference at Louisville. May this club grow. They have an Advisory Committee of foul women of the THE SEUUTS community, namely, Mrs. Onie Hill, Mrs. J. C. Boyd, Mrs. O. T. Myers and Mrs. A. H. Anderson. The Scouts did outstanding work at Christmas time in collecting and re- pairing toys for children of the community. -. .,,H,,...- A thriving, active, growing Boy Scout Troup is a vital necessity in every com- munity. The work of the Scouts is too well known to be mentioned here. The Heath lligh School Debating Club, under the direction of Mr. Leon Smith, has achieved many honors and made a record for itself by winning OLII of twenty debates eleven victories, six non-decisions, and three defeats. Roy Vance and Joseph Harting won the Iiirst District Debate Tournament at Murray, and represented Heath at the State Tournament at Lexington, where they were eliminated in the eighth round. DEBATE CLUB - FUTURE EARMERS The Heath Chapter of the Future liariners of America, under the direction of Mr. Basil Smith, has done very competent work this year. They made a camping tour in August, 1936, on which they saw many interesting places, went to the Kentucky State Fair to compete in a State Livestock judging Contest, and sponsored their second Annual Father and Son Banquet.
