Under the efficient leadership of Mr. James Brookshire, our coach, the Heath Pirates had a successful season. Duc to the untiring efforts of Mr. Brookshire the Pirates won the District Tournament an,l went into the semi-finals of the Regional Tournament. Mr. Brookshire is noted for the tactfulness in which he handles his boys. Wfheher the Pirates are winning or losing he is always in high spirits. Mr. Brookshire is looking forward to a bright season with his Pirates next year. RATES just another practice session ungler the watch- ful eye of Coach jimmie',. Diligent practice- one of the reasons why the team captured the District Tournament. joseph Harting- joe , a Junior this year, has proved that he is a nifty', ball player. He is a sure shot and one can always count on Joe. Fighting every minute, Joe never quits. He will be a valuable man to have next year. jim Ed Manning-A gift sent to Heath from Mayfield. He made a swell player as forward and closed the sea- son with a bang at the Dis- trict Tournament. jim Ed., we are expecting great things of you next year. Robert Hines - This is Rab's first year on the varsity squad, but he played hard in every game he en- tered as if he had been a regular member for four years. Hines, being one of the best shots on the entire squad, proved valuable as a reserve and will be greatly missed next year. Howard Ross - Rooster,' was a great offensive player and proved to be a wonder- ful defensive man for the squad. Though not a regular, he was an excellent substi- tute. Ross was very cool un- der fire-getting them when most needed.

'mr Charles Doc', Morris- Doc ended his basketball career at Heath in a blaze of glory. Before this season he was considered a dead goal shot from any position. This year his shooting suffered, but his splendid all-round playing and fine leadership made him invaluable as cap- tain of the team. His score of 14 points was a big factor in defeating Tilghman in the District Tournament. We hate to see you go, Doc',l Travis Canup - Canup, a very consistent athlete, play- ed with his eye on the baske' This is Canup's first year on the varsity, but being just a Sophomore we are sure he will be beneficial to the squad the next two years. ,lust you watch his smoke! Page Crawford-l'revious to the present year Page was regulated to the reserves. Breaking into the starting line-up in the second game of the season, he filled one of the guard's positions the re- mainder of the year. Page is a fair passer, a good floor man, an excellent long shot and a whale of a defensive man. QAsk Alderson.j Too bad he is a Senior. Edwin Uvelstreet-Nlfdn, or Over,', as he was sometimes called, has been a fighting Pirae for the past three years. His scoring and scrap- ping will not be soon for- gotten and his vacancy will not be easy to fill. Charles Mauiice Hill- Char- lie, playing only two years of basketball became one of the best players to ever attengl Heath. He crowned a suc- cessful s e a s on by being honored with a place on the All-Regional team. Charlie is a Senior and will be missed! Th Ralph Cathey-Cathey, a Sophomore, broke in as a regular late in the season. His fight and determination fin- ally winning the coveted place for him. Cathey will make basketball history be- fore he graduates. BPI Manager Landsel Carneal- -liggsu. an efficient manager, who had the confidence of his players and his coach, was a big factor in keeping the boys in great spirits.
