JOUR ALISM The journalism Class, under the supervision of Mr. Smith, has worked steadily each week putting out the school paper, True Cl.Ass CALL. This paper, which is not only written but also published at the school, is issued at a very low price, only five cents per month, which includes four copies. The news is written by the -lournalism group and turned ox er to thc members of the typing class to be typed ready for the ditto machine. After the various pages have been printed they are clamped together in magazine style. It usually contains ten pages and has an attractive colored front. lt contains all school news, jokes and cartoons and has proved a successful and economical medium for spreading the school news. DEBATING TEAM The Debating Club was re-organized in November, 1934, for the purpose of training young men and women in the art of arguing and reasoning. lt has been possible for every member of this Club to take part in an inter-school debate. Not a single contest has been lost due to this participation. V The Club is very happy to have had associations with the following schools in West Kentucky: Sharpe, Hickman, Benton, Hardin, Tilghman, Reidland, Lone Oak, and Murray Training School. ln this series the Heath Club suffered five defeats. A team composed of Roy Vance, Boyce McFlya and Zack Hill accompanied by their coach, Mrs. Furuth Swift closed the debating season with a trip to Morganfield, Kentucky, and Evansville, lndiana. On March 22-23, the District Tournament was held at Murray and the three boys came out with flying colors. After following probably the hardest route of any team in the tournament by defeating Bandana, Lone Oak and Benton, they lost to Reidland by a two to one decision, thus entitling them to a trip to Lexington April 4, 5, 6, to compete in the State Tournament for State Championship. Much of the success of the Debating Club was due to the untiring efforts of their sponsor, Mrs. Euruth R. Swift.
