CLASS GROUCH Huh what was that? Oh yes I m a grouch Why? Well to start my day my mother gets me up in the middle of the night by turning on the radlo That 1sn t so bad but does she have to turn it up full volume'P I wake up with Who took my Post 'I'oast1es'1 I did says Tony the Tiger They re gr r reat' Finally I trudge to school in weather that is below zero and I climb the 700 starts to my locker When I bend over to get my books invariably lying at the bottom the bus kids come roaring in and knock me over By the time I get my things collected there IS barely t1me to get to class but I make it there when the bell Just stops ringing Mr Anderson looks at me and warns me to be careful in the future or else I try to catch up on my sleep in that class but I know now that lt ls next to impossible I barely get dozing when Mr Anderson asks what is my opinion of lt'P That of course wakes me up and I answer htm with What about what Who'P I-Ie stares at me as though I were a screwball and tells me that I can write a theme about the trouble rn Egypt The next hour 18 band I have a very interesting part to play in all the numbers It goes something like this ta boom ta boom ta boom etc When we finish practicing they finally get the clarmets tuned when we Just get a good start fsqueak ta boom snort I the bell rings Ahh Home Economics lS next I sewed a blouse a skirt my fingers and so on then I was through I was looking cross eyed Later while cooking I was told to put the cake batter in the pan but I saw two pans so I got out of that Suddenly the bell rings and I rush to the door only to find I can t open it because there are so many kids in the hall I finally get II opened grab my coat and let the people carry me down the halls I run home for dinner gobble it down and then rush back to school Then I hock the nearest pencil get my book and when the bell rmgs I am waiting for shorthand class to start Mr Riess has us go through a few thousand drills and when I th1nk my arm rs going to fall off the bell rmgs again Engllsh comes next and at the beginning of class Mr Schretber tells us that we will have a study hour to catch up on our work Then he asks 1f there are any questions Yes there are around 500 or so intelligent questions asked such as Who wrote Macbeth Our small discussion lasts for 55 minutes and only five minutes to study The next day he asks for my assignment and when I tell him I m not through he asks Why not? The last hour is physlcal education with Mr Schmidt We play basketball volleyball kick ball o socker At any rate we always play something where I end up with a bloody nose chipped teeth and multiple bruises Also showers are never just right I either look like a broiled lobster from being scalded or I turn blue from the cold When I think I finally can go home and get some peace and quiet and relax from a hectic day at school someone kindly reminds me that I have a theme for Social Problems to write I stay up and burn the mid night O11 and when I am finished I Jump into bed the end of my typical day of school Well Friends now you know the story but in all fairness I must admit it IS slightly exaggerated and that school IS a wonderful place when you attend the Healy Memorial School I , , ' 1 Yeah , I promptly poured it into the wrong one. The teacher knew I had been having a few difficulties lately,
