That call sets the First Division in motion as would calls for hi-line or fueling at sea, for these are the jobs of the First Division. You can see their men hustling around the forecastle, swinging out stages to chip and paint the sides of the big 672. Perhaps scrubbing the mast on number I stack or down in the bos'n hole doling out paint. They even have their hands on the foul Weather gear which they pass out on occasion. These are the jobs of the deck hands who comprise half of the division. Their running mates, the 40lVllVI gunners main- tain and fire the 1L0's. These are the boys who are expected to put up that impenetrable anti- aircraft screen. You can usually find them heaving around their mounts, Working in the magazines or even grabbing a quick cup of coffee in the gun shack. pi Q Y, Q if 4 J Vt fl. xi wi an e . y ,J ua p y ' Q F ff ff g' :L 'T 2-'V Qi 1 '.
