The overall goal of the chapter is to help youth assume their role in society through home economic education in areas of personal growth, family, life, vocational preparation and community involvement. Sponsors are Barbara Moore and Phyllis Simpson. life olleademhip Life Leadership is designed to be a service organization. It is related to other Life Leadership organizations in other schools. Members are united by a desire to develop positive traits and leadership skills. A representative was sent to a seminar discuss- ing and seeking ideas on how to help motivate students in school. . I psq Medica! gxpforerd A branch of the Boy Scouts of America, Medical Explorers functions by the main ideas of the Boy Scouts of America. It has, specifically, the objective of assisting students in further exploring various health careers. This club gives the students an opportunity to excel in leadership, physical fitness, and service. Some of the activities sponsored by our club were: The Annual Dallas After Dark, Blood' pressure Screening at the Boy Scout Show, Great Cancer Smokeout, a week-end trip spent at the Soroptomist Camp, a trip to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. The officers are President, Michelle Marong Vice President, Cynthia Clarkg Secretary, Chris Grqfinf Treasurer, Lori Grinage. Sponsors are Mrs. D, Saunderx and Mrs. A. King. This is one of HSHP's largest clubs with 125 members. 96

Wedicaffy .gpealaing H This staff of Medically Speaking, the sixth, is proud of its involvement in the daily events of HSI-IP. The best thing about Medically Speaking is that it is not allowed to become the project of a small group. Each year the current A.P. English class assumes the task of writing the paper. The Editor is Matt Alexander. 98 Organizations The Safety Council is dedicated to serving our school and community by informing both of hazards present in the environment.
