Our school is the recipient of this three year special grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The purpose of this grant is to assist under- represented students who plan to enter pre- professional and professional health career programs. The sixty-five senior students in the program are receiving intensive counseling as well as instruction in study skills, test taking skills, and reading and math enrichment. Lectures by selected adult role models as well as visits to local and out-of-town col- leges are a part of this experience. V , ,,, M W may . It is an enrichment program designed to reinforce reading and math skills for all tenth graders. The reading portion emphasizes such areas as note taking, study skills, vocabulary development, and test taking. In the math area an individualized plan is designed for each student bas- ed on the results of diagnostic tests. Although the team lost most of the top players from last year's squad to graduation, and lacked the height advantage of its opponents, the Lions played at their best under the leadership of Michael Ogilvie.
