Text from Pages 1 - 33 of the 1957 volume:

DEDICATION This first yearbook of Headland High School is thoughtfully dedi- cated to those many people who have contributed in any manner -- great or small -- to making this school what it now is. The roll call of such a group would be necessarily long; the architect, the con- struction workers, the adminisu'atiou of our school system. the Board of Education of Fulton County, the administrative staff. faculty, stu- dent body of Headland High School, the Parem-Teacher Association, and last, but certainly hot least, the taxpayers of Fulton County who made the school possible by their support of the necessary bond issues. This volume is further dedicated to the future of Headland High School. May we grow in tradition and school pride to the fullest limit of the bright promise which belongs to us. The limits stretch almost into infinity, and we can achieve them by thoughtful and atdem ap- plication to our tasks as students and teachers. PAUL R. LEWIS ' , , ' ' ' ; 33;;er Principal , :3 SARAH SUTTLES Adminisuative Assistant 1 L. LINTON DECK, IR. Counselor FACULT Y FLORA BAILEY IEA BARRETT HENRY BILLINGHURST CHARLES T. Crisman who was succeeded in mid-year by Mr. Robert DePoy. The Highlander Band promises to be a colorful organization and a producer of good music as well. Many organizations and clubs have been organized during this initial year. In addition to the Student Government and Band already mentioned, the fol- lowing groups have been organized: Junior Civitans. Civinettes, Journalism Club, Glee Club, Latin Club, Future Homemakers of America, Library Staff, Office Staff, Junior Red Cross, Y-Teens, Tumbling Club, Annual Representa- tives, and others. All these student groups have done excellent work. The Journalism Club will publish a school newspaper and have held an election to choose Headland Highlights as the name of the paper. In October, 1956 the Headland Higl PTA was organized. Mrs. Lloyd Lake was named president for the year. and the Association has undertaken a very ambitious budget for equipment and aid in the school. In February, 1957 the first annual Faculty-Fathers basketball game was promoted, and although the game ended in a tie, the budget was aided greatly by the funds raised in this fl manner.
