The chapter enjoyed their trip to Troy State where they participated in the District Convention and Jim McGee served as President. Tommy. Bass and Dale Baxter 59 Youth Association for Retarded Children, an organization which helps the handicapped children all over the world, was chartered at HHS this past year. Youth ARC takes on projects to earn money to help the research by which these children are guided. Some of the fund-raising pro- jects have included road blocks and Halloween insurance. The members assisted the Special Ed teachers with a Christmas party for the children. Clothes were given by local merchants and sent to children of our district at Partlow. Games were also collected for our local area. 60 KEY CLUB The Headland High Key Club, a service club sponsored by the Headland KiwanisClub, consists of 25 members this year. Every week, two of the Key Club members attend the meeting of the Kiwanis Club to better under- stand community prob- lems and how they may help in solving them. The Key Club has actively participated in community projects, such as, collection of money for the March of Dimes and the Heart Fund, and in school pro- jects, such as, selling tickets at basketball games. 61 FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA The Future Homemakers of America is composed of members who are taking or have had at least one year of Home Economics. This year, the fifty members participated in selling cookbooks and candy as their money-making pro- jects. The chapter theme for the year was Let's Get Involved. The Headland Chapter was invited to the State as well as the Nation- al FHA meeting. FHA BEAU Steve Money FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA The Future Farmers of America has served to mo- tivate and vitalize the sys- tematic instruction offered to students of vocational agri-business. Among other things, members learn through ac- tive participation how to conduct and take part in a public meeting; to speak in public; to buy and sell cooperatively; to solve their own problems; to fi- nance themselves; and as- sume civic responsibility. No other national student organization enjoys great- er freedom of self-govern- ment. STUDENT COUNCIL In its first year of organization, the Student Council has sponsored and promoted many successful pro- jects. Its chief purpose is to bring t about a better relationship between students and faculty. The council is made up of five officers elected by the student body after a week of campaigning cli- maxed by speeches. There are also 15 homeroom representatives. H. S. which will always be remem- bered. To many people, the 1972 La Resume may seem to be pages of pictures bound to- gether into a book. For the underclassmen, it is only a portion of that yet-to-be-com- pleted. But for the Seniors, it holds all the memories of their final and greatest year. It is hoped that you are able to sense the deep feelings of love and pride which went into the editing of this volume. Many ideas cannot fully be under- stood without searching in depth. The same holds true for this edition of the La Re- sume.
