La Resume 1963 Headland High School Headland, Alabama Alma Mater We will sing for Headland High School, Wherever we may be; May those happy days be cherished In our fondest memories. Where the blue and white are flowing, Flowing for our loyalty, We will sing for Headland High School And our pride she'll ever be. Dedication That the dreams of impetuous youth might live unmolested--even flourish-- be- neath an understanding sympathy, there were created some to whom God gave wisdom and patience to guide this youthful enthusiasm into channels which eventually elevate them to positions of dignity and security. To these, the unacknowledged leaders of our youth, our teachers, we dedicate the 1963 LA RESUME, with love and undying gratitude. Class History For twelve years Iâve waited for this moment and now that it's here, I wish I were anywhere else but! I'm burning up, my collar scratches, my nose is itching, and I can't scratch it because I'm sitting on the front row. How miserable can a graduating Senior be? At last, the ceremony lias begun and Mr. B is handing out the di- plomas. PATSY BRADSHAW. I remember when MARILYN ESPY chased her home with a stick. Could that have been in the first grade? MIKE BUSH. If there was ever any mischief going on in school, you could almost bet your last dollar that he was the ring leader. CAROLYN POPE. â With all of her brains, why didn't she use them the day JULIANNA FOLGER, JANE GRACE, and VIRGINIA McGRIFF locked her in the tool shed in Julianna's back yard. DANA HOWARD. For someone so tiny she sure packs a mean wallop, as everybody saw when she and CAROL LANGFORD had it out in the 5th grade over who was to be head cheerleader. Oh yes, ANN HAMM wound up with the desired position. ANN WALDEN. We all knew when she was coming down the hall; Squeek, rattle-rattle, crash; yep, that's Ann. DON McCLENDON. Poor Don, he's always been the third person in school romances. If ever one eye-batting female liked him, a second carried his torch too! EMILY WATSON. Who would ever imagine that our top tomboy would become a lovely blonde 'femme fatale!' KATE HELEN PHILL- IPS. As president of GGT Club of grammar school days, her advice to the'Tove-lom was appreciated by all. FRANCES PARKER. In the 6th grade, she broke her arm trying to do acrobatics on roller skates! The teachers offered her everything in school to hush her screaming, but all she wanted was Momma. KATHY KELLY. As president of the SCC, she was our undisputed leader in the 7th grade. Who would dispute her? The club house was her auntâs car! JIMMY GIVENS. Along with CARL PAT CLEMENTS, TOMMY WALKER, AND RAY SHELLEY, they formed the All-round Gang, and declare that their first grave mistake was walking in Grammar School the first day. AGNES GENE ALLEN. How can one little girl be so smart and yet so dumb? To make the highest grade on the ACT test, and to fail first semester Algebra II! WANDA WATSON. Headland's Homecoming Queen, the gal with all the team spirit quite ironically was the top promoter of the B'Ville Yellow Jackets. JOE WALDEN. It wasn't unusual for him to be tardy for school because of having to round up 'straying' livestock every other day or so. JEAN WOODHAM. 4-H Rallies are fun, but they can be expensive as Jean found out in the 6th grade when her $16. 95 bathing suit was mistaken for a bag of rubbish and thrown into the fire. FRANCES MITCHELL. The only professional woman in the class, she began her dentist assistant training in the Jr. year; must be nice. CATHERINE HAMM. She and CATHERINE BULGER learned in the 6th grade never to play volley- ball in the classroom when they broke a bottle of furniture polish on Mrs. Bodiford's clean floor. MALINDA SHELLEY. Headland's entry to the World Series got her fill of baseball when someone threw a 'fast ball' and gave her a black eye. HANSE HALL. As winner of the Safe Driver's Contest for three years, 'Weeze' agrees that this is a very worth while organization. DONALD PARISH. He and WINSTON GRIGGS, as members of the Forest St. Football League, received valuable training, like replacing broken windows every other week! BILL GRANBERRY. Who would have guessed that he and JERRY FULCHER would ever become the suave Casanovas of today. TIM KIRKLAND. Our most musically inclined classmate, his favorite memories are of the band trips. RONNIE BALL. He had a friendly, after-school game at his house, and all the boys got rich. CHARLES Mc- CLENNY. The 2nd bone-breaker in the class, his accident occurred playing ball in the Stadium. EDD OATES. He owns the âHottestâ car in town, or so he claims. MARGARET WHATLEY. The 6th grade boys remember her as the informer of the PTA. PENNY HASTY. N.C. âs loss was our gain--she entertained our Jr. English with her drawl. CARL WILLIAMS. â Rumor has it that 2 girls waged a fierce battle over him in the 5th grade. BILLY CASEY. Just to look at him you'd never know that this strapping young lad was once a 101b. weakling--the day he was born! DWAYNE SMITH. Armed in his leather jacket and motor cycle boots, he patrolled the Dothan Highway in Jr. High days. NELLE SOLOMON. Oh, that's me, the last one. Now that itâs all over, I think I'm gonna cry!! ! liflien RflVORHEC WIAKK I TWAIN I MARK JKARK TWAIN TWAIN THK lj INNOCr.'l ABROA1 I FOLUW- THK kouaic ATRAM ABROM .
