However, as months multiplied into years, our distant respect transformed into veritably personal glorification. We came to the realization that they, the members of the faculty, are not necessary evils but rather essential factors in our lives. They have become our trusted friends. For those of us, if there be any, who have traveled the high school years and have not befriended their teachers, we express nothing but regret and for them we make apology. if K 95 11 H S S E H I U NEB SRQHNCORHMAE ANDERKO, LAWRENCE Lurry Milnesville Simply everyone is his friend BECHTLOFF, BERNlCE Bernice Hollywood Always has o smile for everyone BEZICK, JEAN Jean Jecldo Always willing lo help. In the autumn of 1952, buses from Beaver Brook, Drifton, Harwood, Hollywood, Lattimer, Milnesville, Cranberry, Ebervale, Jeddo, Oakdale, and Harleigh brought 125 excited freshmen to this, our loved H.T.H.S. As we entered into this unfamiliar atmosphere, we gazed at the endless corridors, not knowing which way to turn. However, it wasn't long before we became well acquainted with the school and its personnel. We were fortunate to receive Mr. Adam Slysofski as our class advisor. We held two roller skating parties, both of which were a great success. The year was climaxed with a glorious trip to Hershey Park. Thctfc wcly. Profs Tribute TRlBUTE Mr. Sweeney unflinchingly accepted the responsibility of guiding our class in a crucial hour. In our Junior year, Mr. Slysotski was called by his Creator to his eternal reward. Mr. Bobowski then became our adviser for the balance of the year. He did not return to Hazle Township in September. Again we were orphans until Mr. Sweeney graciously consented to become our mentor, knowing definitely that under no conditions could the book be dedicated to him. V It is difficult to say in words how great is our gratitude to him. The manner in which he conducted the advertising campaign and the Christmas Card project is a tribute to him. He took our class and filled our coffers so that we became a Have, instead of a Have-Not, class. Mr. Sweeney, hats oft to you! The class of T956 is grateful to you tor the innumerable things you did so well for us. TRIBUTE Although Mr. Bobowski was our class adviser for a few short months, he did a tremendous job and we wish to express our thanks and gratitude with this tribute to him. 65 llkllI UU if Slip-ing! A Visit Out West K'-x 3.f 't One morning in June, a plane took off to Ancora Junction. The pilot, Tom Embert, and co-pilot, Tom Glowatch, assured us of a delightful trip. The stewardesses, Mary Gavinski and Margie Franek, served us a little snack prepared by the cook, Rosalie McMonigle. Sitting in front of us was the famous wrestler, Jim Killer Rutolo and his manager, Larry Anderko. While on our flight, we listened to the radio, which featured the Five Pics -Jack Seiwell, Stan Forte, George Hudock, Chickie Bezick, and Steve Hoppy. Time passed on and soon we arrived at the airport. Waiting at the airport to meet us were Carl Novitsky and Elaine Kaminsky, who were to escort us to Ray Kisacky's Dude Ranch. Boarding one of the stage coaches to take us to the ranch, driver Don Howley and guard, Joe Sokol, assured us of safety. While on our way, we were surprised to meet the famous acrobatic team of Connie Skarp, Janet Pastorell, Jeanette Pavlinko and lrene Kassick, who were also going to the ranch. Despite the driver's assurance, we were attacked by an outlaw gang led by Jesse James McCarthy. The other ruthless members of the gang included Al Llewellyn, Billy Maranki, Frank Kuba and Mike Pluta. To the rescue came Mike Olenick and his side-kick, Two Gun Chuck Dinsmore, who rounded up the gang and threw them in jail. As we arrived at the luxurious ranch, we were greeted by the tempting aroma of delicious food cooked by Anita Bobey and helper, Ann Solanick. Inside we were escorted to our rooms by bellhops, Dominic DeFluri and Angelo Merola. After dinner, we were shown around the ranch by the owner's cousin, Robert Kisatsky. Early the next morning, we started on a horseback ride with Indian Chief, George Lagana, acting as guide. On the way, he told us stories of the early days in the West. Coming to the Chief's reservation, we were greeted by the Chief's squaw, Helen Kubic. She introduced us to two Indian girls, Virginia Marinock and Rosalie Ogurick, who were very skillful in weaving baskets. Continuing our iourney, we came upon Bill Schaffer's Trading Post. He informed us that he received many of his furs from trappers, John Scavnicky and Mike Pupach. After the tour, we returned to the ranch and had supper. We then went to the famous nightclub The 70 Purple Ship. Here we were entertained by the famous comedy team of Terry Honis and Frankie Matz. Also appearing was the famous pianist, Mary Ellen Dushanko. For the flnale, Joan DeBalso, Monica Braskie, Rosella Skuntz, and Elaine Peak sang a hit tune which was written by top songwriters, Patricia Gullick and Doris Koval. We were then served pizza by the famous waiter, Robert Melito. While eating our pizza, we were greeted by Judge Paul Yurkanin and his lovely wife, the former Ann Martino. After a delightful time at The Purple Ship, we returned home tired and sleepy The next morning, we were awakened by the tinkling of the breakfast bell. While eating, we were informed by ranch hand, Andy Marinock, that Dan Polchin's Rodeo was in town. After hearing this news, we immediately made up our minds to go. On our way, we noticed a movie production getting under way. We stopped and saw the famous producer, John Veres and director, Francis Boyarski. We also saw famous movie stars, Jean Mudrick, Louise Pisak, Patricia lben, and Sylvia Sieniawski, who were having a terrible time studying their lines. Starring opposite them were Frank Sypeck, Bernard Soika, Gerad Grega, and Theodore Yurek. They were producing a picture called The James Watkins' Story. After an enioyable time, we were on our way to the rodeo. Arriving at the rodeo, we purchased tickets from Theresa Cole. lnside, we were ushered to our seats by usherettes Marie Kendra and Marie Benyo. We then purchased programs from Dolores Fierro and Joan Gas- per. The first event was a calf-raping contest between cowboys Ed Solenski, Joe Yurescko, Jack Seaman, and John Sessock. The second event featured six expert trick-riders which included Bernice Bechtloff, Caroline Claypotch, Mary Ann Dzuranin, Elaine Elko, Patricia Kotch, and Betty Bogwist. The reporters covering the rodeo were Elaine Oravetz and Jean Bezick from the Ancora Times. During intermission, we purchased refreshments from Rita Rohall and Carol Vaida. At last, the rodeo was over and we started back to the ranch. The next morning, we went to the airport, but before boarding our plane, we purchased a magazine fea- turing My Little Margie Potochney from Richie Filipek's newstand. As we boarded the plane, stewardesses, Mary Ellen Glowatch and Mary Metz, gave us a very warm wel- come and showed us to our seats. The pilots, Paterick and Shenosky, were prompt on starting and soon we were headed towards home after a delightful visit out West. It was necessary to send the Administration pages to our printers before November 28, l955, which was a period after the elections but before the reorganization of the board. At that printing the ofticial titles were as designated. The picture and copy on this page should allay any apprehensions.
