Foreword The purpose of the 1954 ANCORA is to record the deeds of the Senior Class. In the years ahead it will keep alive the memories of our four years in H.T.H.S. Although each suc- ceeding year will bring new faces and new experiences to the school scene, this will be a record of friends they knew, things they did, and memories that will always be near to them. 1 Contents . ,f ' ,'i Alma Mater ............ It was no different than any other building made of brick and stone and mortarg and frankly, we didn't even notice the classicism of the Ionic pillars which graced the entrance. To us arriving it was a symbol of frustration. Our activities would be curtailed for a long time. Could we ever get to love it? Never! And so time went on and on and on. We acquainted our- selves with our cells and cellmates, sort of condoled ourselves, our fate was alike. We were inmates of the same institution. And time wore on and on, now faster in its pace, ever faster- one year, two years, three years, and with the speed of jet propulsion we were hurled headlong into our fourth and iinal year. Yes, you guessed itg we lost our prejudices, our little nonsensical hatreds. The turnabout is complete. Today this brick and mortar is no longer a heap of rubble. Each brick, each niche and cranny has become a hal- lowed, almost sacred shrine, and we love each and every single iota of it. T his is our Alma Mater. S 3 W. A
