This year's Boys' Club did just that. They co-sponsored the first annual Winter Ball. They introduced the apple machine and held many other fun and worthwhile activities. John Geissler was president, Larry Dime was vice-president, Roy Bean was secretary and Mr. Wicks was the Advisor, This year's Boys' Club cabinet consisted of: seniors-Dave Austin, Jim Bucy, Ron Mil- ler, Steve Mills, Ken Nelson, Mike Nipert, Jeff Schweiger and Todd Thorseng jun- iors- Kevin Bell, and John Jandersg sophomores- Greg Huffman, Pat Mooney and Brad Watsong freshman- Jimmy Cloyd. Brrr A visitor to Hazen might be puzzled by an unusual phenomenum - dozens of students wrapped in many layers of clothing and huddled around radiators, rubbing their blue hands, and stamping frozen feet. However, this is simply ex- plained by the fact that the temperature at Hazen is generally kept at a brisk 30 F. It also explains why it is possible that 90'Z7 of Hazen graduates have ice in their veins. Cafeteria In the heart of every Highlander there exists a special spot reserved for that wonderful place- the cafeteria. A dark, cheerless room, full of strange machines and strange people, the cafeteria is pre- sided over by Mr. Dillard. Mr. Dillard keeps cheerful about his job, and fre- quently considers the ideal day, which would be a day in which nothing out of the ordinary happens. The ordinary is bad enough. Student Life I3

Black Student Union The Black Student Union provides an opportunity for black students to find out and learn more about their background and culture. This is their sixth year in existence at Hazen. A lot of credit goes to this year's advisor, Ms. Harris. It was held on No- vember 5, 1975, and 123 pints were donated. The P.T.A. mothers helped out, as they do every year, by assisting the nurses in various ways SL reassur- ing those students who had second thoughts about giving blood. Camp Casey Approximately seventy-five students from Hazen attended Leadership Camp this year. Through a series of seminars, they set out to learn some leadership skills. Leadership Camp wasn't all work-the stu- dents had alot of fun. Hiking, basketball, squaredance and a skit fest were all part of the activities for this outing. Cheerleaders Hazen's cheerleaders put forth a lot of hard work, extra effort and spirit this year. They began their work in the sum- mer by practising cheers and attending Cheerleading Camp. Their job is to pro- mote school spirit, which they did at both the pep assemblies and the many sports events. They raised funds by selling pep buttons before all games. ln January they sponsored a Kiss-the-Frog contest, which was won by Debbie Doutrich again. This year there were also two yell kings-Todd Hamblin and Tavv Shaver. They added gymnastic stunts to the routines, and generally helped to increase the spirit. For the second year there were mascots, two dogs, Lita and Dorado. The Head Cheerleader this year was Cindy Glenn, and Mrs. Jorve was their advisor. lj.
