SSN The basis for a successful student program lies generally in the plann- ing of the student leaders of the school SBA President Kevin Green, had the responsibility of leading the Student body at Hazen this past year. Assisting Kevin was Vice President Craig Hanis, Secretary Lorraine Clear, and Historian Carol Knedler, who worked together to accomplish the many tasks confronting the student leaders. Early in the year, Kevin, Craig, Lor- raine, and Carol worked with the Executive Board in formulating plans for future all-league leadership con- ferences. Their proposal was present- ed to the Vice Principals Association of Secondary Schools for consider- ation. ln an attempt to achieve a more effective student govern ment, the SBA again sponsored the Waskowitz Con- ference. First semester's weekend, November 15 and 16, featured com- munication through human relations. Seven qualified instructors were avail- able in addition to the well known speakers, Mr. Magee, from Foster High, and Father Small, from Seattle Prep. As a result of the conference, Senate and homeroom meetings utilized methods of communication to encourage individuals to particip- ate. The responsibilitites of leadership can be stated in many ways, but the late Robert F. Kennedy summed it up best, perhaps, when he said, Some men see things as they are and say why, I dream of things that never were, and say-why not?
