Hazen was forced out of play by Oak Grove with a score of 65-50. The team seemed to get it all to- gether for the most important time of the season-district! An 0-8 score with Augusta in the final game of the season was almost the only blemish in a near perfect cam- paign . Earlier in the year, the Hornets were defeated by DeValls Bluff, 14-16. In the first game of the year the Hornets smashed England 27-0. De- fensively they played an almost error- less game as the offense supplied enough firepower to coast to victory. The Junior team gathered momentum in the second game as they unmerci- fully humiliated Holly Grove, 28-8. It looked like a perfect season, but only two teams showed up to prevent it. A short time ago a yearbook was considered merely a collection of snapshots similar to those found in photo albums. Today it can no longer be considered as such. With the idealism and enthusiastic qualities of today's students, the yearbook has become a form of art captured by these traits. lt is a book compiled of the achievements throughout the year and serves as a permanent record for the students, faculty and community. Thanks should be given to . . . Riceland Foods for the color pictures donated for the cover in the opening section. Bruce Proctor for the excellent color photography in the opening section and extra time spent in getting these pictures. Ken Austin and Hazel Presson for technical aid at the summer planning session in Austin. Arkansas Gazette for pictures which were otherwise unobtainable of political leaders and Viet Nam scenes. Ronnie Wensel for football squad pictures. Cecil Waddle for reducing the characters for the months of the year and for the development of last minute film. Chil- dren, as well as students and adults, are beingffaced with the seriousness of world pollution. Living in this area of delta land with many wide open spaces, fresh air and non-polluted water has made many of us unaware of what life in a heavily polluted city can be like. However, steps have been taken even in this area to help prevent this problem from occurring. Perhaps that is why the symbole, standing for ecology, represents the need for a cleaner America which the ecological groups and organizations stress in their daily routinef The four-color picture on the cover symbolizes our community as an area free of pollution. Because the 1971-72 students of Hazen High School are the future leaders in the fight against environmental pollution, the '72 ver- sion of the HORNET was published.
