FHA members participated in District Convention in Beulah in the Fall. Tammy Scheid was elected as District Seven Officer and Lisa Kilde competed and was choosen as Star Event winner for Job Interviewing. Sara Disler. Dorthy Huber. Vicki Rahn. Naomi Mattheis and Cindy Imel were candidates at the State Convention. Other activities included in the FHA program were a trail ride. Christmas party, toy donation, to Salvation Army, care packages made for the residents at the retirement home. MDA Fund Raiser, sold 850 Valentine Cupcakes and provide ice cream cones daily to the high school students at noon hour. The FFA Banquet was cooked and served by the FHA. Each event was filled with the full three entries. They attended three speech meets. Riverdale. Garrison. and Districts at BJC. dominating each one. and bringing home the sweepstakes trophy. Eleven people attended the State speech Meet in Mandan. Julie Rathjen placed sixth in Persuasive Speaking. Wagner Homecoming week started on Monday with HAWAIIAN DAY: Tuesday - TOGA PJ DAY: Wednesday - NERD DAY: Thursday - DRESS-UP DAY followed by coronation at 7:00 where King Loyal and Queen Valerie were crowned. Friday - GREEN AND WHITE DAY and also SLAVE DAY. That night the Bision played Washburn. 39 Way lo tell them!! THE ROAD The Hazen Girls' Basketball team made school history in 1985 by advancing to state tournament action, the first time ever. Although things looked pretty doubtful when senior Linette Latimer ' broke her arm in the District semi-final game, the girls came back to defeat Halli-day the next evening, winning the championship for Netter.'' Regionals were also full of surprises. On the first night came a surprisingly easy victory over Alexander. But. the next two games weren't quite as simple. Each game was decided within the last few seconds by some excellent outside shooting. After Tuesday night. Hazen was the Region 7 Champion, coach Bob Marth-aller was Region 7 Coach of the Year, and they were heading to the State Tourney. CAPTAIN The 1985-86 volleyball season turned into a very successful one after a slow start. The team had a 7-7 record after Christmas vacation. Things started to meld for the Bison in January as they finished up the season with only 2 more losses to give them a 20-9 record. Leadership was provided by the play of seniors Linette Latimer.
