We Teel ThaT by being a member oT The Hazelwood sTudenT body There are Tour basic virTues which every one oT us, as individuals, should exhibiT. They are TruTh, Honor, Wisdom, and Friendship. There are Two phases To our TruThTulness. The TirsT is concerned wiTh personal honesTy To ourselves. We use TruTh as The illuminaTing TacTor in realizing our abiliTies. We Tace liTe realisTically, never raTionalizing. The second phase oT our TruThTulness has To do wiTh our relaTions wiTh oThers. Through honesTy we are sincere. We value This sinceriTy, and, ThereTore, consider iT as one oT The greaTesT giTTs we can give To oThers. TruThTul- ness provides sTrong evidence oT our sinceriTy and sTrengTh oT characTer. OThers recognize our honor by our sporTsmanship, respecT Tor auThor- iTy, and diligence in our school worlc and all exTracurricular acTiviTies. Our wisdom is maniTesTed Through every word we say and every acTion we perTorm. Wisdom is The power To do. IT is exhibiTed in The high personal goals and excellenT sTandards which we have esTablished as The means by which we can conTribuTe To our school and communiTy. We aT- Tend This school and iTs acTiviTies in order To TurTher our wisdom. We are aware oT The imporTanT parT The wisdom oT The individual plays in a dem- ocraTic socieTy. One oT The mosT imporTanT aspecTs oT our school liTe is our relaTionship wiTh oThers. Our Triendship, ThereTore, is characTerized by sinceriTy, cour- Tesy, and consideraTion oT oThers. We Try To be aware oT The Teelings and .needs oT oThers. 'and we consider iT necessary To puT ourselves in Their place beTore acTing. We believe, as Ralph Waldo Emerson believed, The only way To have a Triend is To be one.
