Won't you pause and look back on the road up the hill At both pleasuresand sorrows, at progress and strife? Have your interests been broadened? has life been increased Has the joy of real living been stamped on your soul? llave you learned how to laugh and to love and to serve With the best good of others as ultimate goal? With a feeling of sadness and joy, you should come To the end of it all on this sunny spring day For the worlds all before you and life scarce begun And the top of the hill is the turn of the way. All the problems of life and its living await Whieli will tax all your efforts in thought and in deed And your friends and your classmates are standing today Ar your turn of the road and are waving 'KGod speedfl IILTY W.: ww, V xkmw M ,..v-A,,A-...,,,,-qxywu c 'M 'WWAW ' ww . GUILTY Ile slyly placed a magazine Behind his history book, And when I wasn't watching him, He tried to steal a look. He squirmed and wigglcd restlessly As if he were in pain, And what he tried to cover up, He made so very plain. When I was younger, years ago, I acted quite the way This boy I've had my eyes upon Has tried to act today. I thought I fooled my teacher then, But now I plainly sec, I fooled him just about as much As this young man fooled me. THE GRADUATES' FAREWELL No more youll sec our happy faces Around the old familiar places. No more youll hear our raucous yells Between the class's passing bells. No more youll see us stand in line, No more youll soak us for a Hne, No more youll say we're in a coma, For now we hold a signed diploma. CONSCIENCE If I should stand behind a group To spot an irritating sound, It's ten to one that every time, The guilty person turns around. ALIBIS It really is funny How people will try To cover their errors By telling a lic. If they only knew it, Their action aflords, A much better answer Than meaningless words. Page twenty-eight ns--snxusnsnnsn-sn1x11xi'sux'nxn-sn-xn'yn-snnsns--Q-nsnxnx ua! pltgmea By B. A. lX'lCCLOY RATING Each month I rate my boys and girls An UA or B or 'lC,', For work they've done those twenty days That was assigned by me. Sometimes, I know, I give a grade Because I have been fooled, To one who didn't do the tasks Exactly as I ruled. Perhaps it's true that someone else Ilas really over worked, And failed to get a passing mark Because I felt they shirked. This mark of NAU or B or C, That I have thought you earned Wcinit help a bit in after life - It's really what youive learned. A TEACHING CREED I think if you can meet the boys, And share with them what each enjoys, That teaching w0uldn't be a bore, But every day y0u'd like it more. just let them see youre human folk, Know how to give and take a joke, You may not like it -just the same They like to see you at a game. To prove to them that lifeis worth while, Sometimes just greet them with a smile By being sympathetic, too, Thcyll place their confidence in you. I think if you can meet the boys, And share with them what each enjoys, That teaching wouldnt be a bore, But everyday you'd like it more. VVonder this day only in a sensible and sober state of mind, do hereby who toll! will and bequeath the valuables and otherwise which we have acquired during our four years of learning at this intellectual institution. Individual meets were held with IHOSI of the teams of the Eastern Michigan League, and several of the boys attended the State lWeet at Ypsilanti. Because it is a new sport for varsity competition, it will be a few years before we will be able to compete successfully with schools in our classification. Increased interest on the part of the boys is encouraging to Coach Zepp, and high hopes are entertained for the next years competition, as the reserve team this year were suc- cessful in all their meets.
