HOME ECONOMICS DE PARTMFNT The Home Economics Department IS for girls ln the nmth and tenth grades ln Clothing the girls learn the fundamentals of sewing By the end of the second semester the gurls ln the clothmg class have learned the fun damentals of sewlng from the embrolde ring of tea towels to the maklng of dresses In Foods they study the plannxng preparatlon and se rvmg of break fast luncheon and dinner Teas and partles also add mte rest to the course One of the projects thxs semester IS a style show to be given near the close of thls year s work MANUAL TRAINING One of the most useful and Interesting departments of our school IS hands and thelr heads Under the able guidance of their mstructor Mr Pryce Tutt they are taught things which will be mvaluable to them ln life They are taught to be neat accurate and palnstakmg m their work principles whlch make for success ln any llne of work In the shop the boys study lathe work and bench work On the lathe they learn to turn all kxnds of round objects such as baseball bats candle sticks and smoking stands They are shown how to transform an old rough lookmg piece of lumber mto vartous forms of pohshed neat lookmg furntture. the Manual Training Department.
