The Rails built up a 13 to O halftime advantage and preserved it to blank the Hurricanes by a 19 to 0 score The Spooner eleven hit pay dirt in the first quarter when Pete johnson hit Gary Parker with a 25 yard pass A one yard plunge by B1ll Perkins added the second Rail score A oO yard pass play gave the Rails their final score Hayward threatened twiee in the third period john Moreland ran the second half kick off to the Spooner one but a fumble ended that threat Later a drive stalled on the Spooner nine to-Q The coaches Ed Koch Bob Nyberg and Verne Vradenburg who worked with the boys last fall praise their work with the following Don Borst one of our ends contri buted much to our passing attack Don also was a hard worker at a defensive end position. Burt Gregerson our Co- Captain and other end was an excellent pass receiver' he made fine decisions when called upon as Co-Captain. jim Hallman alias Bear was an excellent man to stren then the forward wall on defense. He a so opened some nice holes over right guard for our backs to go through. lgugene Hanson injured while working for a local mer- chant during the summer came out in mid-season. He helped the team ' great deal at guard and defensive end. He was a very aggressive player eager to help his teammates in any way possi- ble. Rickey Hanson pulling left guard was a card in the locker room. Rickey played hard and was always eager to learn out on the field. Ron Hanson-- Fat they call him-- lost a lot of weight. Not the fastest man on the team he tried everything and worked hard at it. Bob Hanus played center. A hard worker at all times, he was an excellent man to have in the offensive wall. Bob Ingersoll, our Co- Captain, played fullback and showed terrific power from that spot. Bob, a very aggressive player, was a great asset to the team. Beaver fullback Ted Bents scored three touchdowns on runs of eighty forty and eleven yards to lead his teammates to a 27 to 13 decision over the Hurricanes The fourth Cumber land touchdown was made by Marvin Anderson on a one yard smash Havward scored in the third period when john Moreland went over from the one following a 54 yard drive Hay ward s other score came on a 20 yard pass from john Moreland to jim Dow ling The contest saw the visitors take a 21 to O halftime margin and coast to victory Bloomer made it five straight championships as they downed the Hurricanes by a 37 to 13 score in the final game of the season Hayward threatened early in the game only to see a first down missed by inches preventing a first down the Blackhawks eight yard line. Bloomer came back to take a 25 to 7 halftime mar in largely because of the running of ha fbacks Don Naset and Don Poirier. The aerial combination of john Moreland and jim Dowling gave the Hurricanes both of their scores. BETTY B Team f :K ,fgwaf Betty Lou udy Iodell Joyce DEE EV BARB HO ECOMIN Ist Prize King Bob . . .
